Is the 5 speed an issue for owners?

So read and watched plenty of reviews on the gc srt8.. In reality how much of an issue is the 5 speed gearbox with everyday life? If it is an issue , when do you folks notice it most?
Sorry this is a question from a potential owner...
Thanks

i have 10k miles on the truck and most of that is city/suburan driving. the only downside i see is that the transmission has a bump/kick feeling with slow acceleration. other than that i have absolutely no problems with the transmission. i really to race the truck so i dont feel the gap in between gears that people talk about either. i do occasional 1/4 track runs and been to the road course 2x. seems fine to me.

I currently own a MY11 Overland w/ the 5.7 Hemi. While not the SRT8 version, I believe the 5-speed Auto is the same except for some programming. It works well but the general feeling is the future 8-speed will be an improvement. This is all speculation. That is until empirical data can be provided. However I would think there would be a improvement in acceleration, response and fuel economy.

Is is worth waiting for a MY14, perhaps. Opinions will vary.

The Nag1 hits the gears hard. If there was a way to get the rig in 2WD only, it would chirp 2nd gear. I dont have a problem with not having rev matched shifting and all that hub bub. I wouldnt mind a sixth gear though. The SRT is obviously a little low geared and it shows badly when traveling at 80+ mph and your RPM's are at or above 3K! Seems like 8 gears and this much torque will cause the new tranny to hunt for a gear all the time. Who knows though, it may be exactly what the rig needs. IMO, a six speed would be perfect and a dual clutch setup would be......well...now Im just dreaming. No way Cryco could make that shizz happen.

I think the 5 speed is fine IMO. I drive the truck hard and it works well for me. I'm used to the NAG1 as it was in my last Jeep SRT8 as well. I'm used to it. Also, the NAG1 has a high capacity race transmission ready to bolt into the WK2s when the tuning and power adders come :D

I love the nag1, plus what Zac said as there is already a built tranny and valvebody for it. From what I hear the Paramount tcm works with it also. I didnt want to take a chance on not liking the 8 speed and have to find used. I dont like how tranny's with more gears are always searching for a gear. I could care less about gas mileage as I get 20 on the highway with the 5 speed and thats 3 more than my 08 got. It should be nice with the 8 speed dont get me wrong, I just dont have any gripes about the 5 speed so I didnt want to wait

I really don't feel any of the comments I read!

I go slow and fast and very fast, the transmission doesn't shift so hard. It is only when I use the manual the it goes really hard, because I think as everyone says! American cars drive that way and this is my really first car.

I would avoid playing a lot with the manual transmission, because I read some of comments are complaining about they have an issue with the transmission or gear box!

I would let the car drive Naturally at how it is configured to shift between gears the way it wants it. I do use the manual transmission, but it is like once a while and I use the Automatic most of the time, cause I don't want to have no problems with the gear box sooner or later.
