You think the 6.4 will be a better motor than the 6.2 supercharged?

I won't know for at least a few days but it's about a 50/50 right now.

After seeing the options I'd like a 2017, Billet Silver, Demonic Red interior with the leather package, brake upgrade, wheels upgrade (even though I'll swap mine over), Pano Roof, HK stereo, tow package. sticker should be around $78k. I'll just order it and not allow dealer prep. The only way that will work though is if I get the trade assist.
Didn't do the brakes or the red, did the rest with full black leather...I think mine stickered out at $78,400...regardless of what they call it!

I know u asked Scott but I though I would chime in too...I define one version of "better" as stronger and, thus, the 6.2 is hands down a "better" motor....the 6.4 is a stroked 5.7 block with many shared parts, whereas, the 6.2 is a new block with little shared with the 5.7/6.4 design with much thicker cylinder walls, ring lands, etc, and the reason it's 6.2 v 6.4 is they shortened the stroke to have a stronger cam...the fact that the 6.4 in stock form cannot handle much boost (generally speaking) due to thin ring lands is just another thing showing that while the 6.4 is stout, the 6.2 is by far a stronger engine, IMHO.

Obviously, the 6.2 will also be better if GPM (Grins Per Mile) are the metric...

No sir I just meant if you want a 6.4....better get it this year. From what I know and what milous knows....2018 will be 6.2 ONLY...unless they change that between now and 2018 launch.

Wow, I didn't know that!
Are you comparing the 6.4 to the 6.2 supercharged (HC) or stock (SRT 2018 MY)?
BTW, I appreciate you in depth info.!

I think it is to protect us from global warming. Cows give off large amounts of methane gas. By trapping it in the cowhide it only gets into the atmosphere if the air bag deploys. FCA probably gets EPA credits and therefore can sell more 5.7 and 6.4 gas guzzlers.

Comparing 12+ 6.4 to 6.2HC...plenty of guys are boosting the 6.4 and not popping it but it is generally agreed that if you stay very conservative 6-8psi ish u have a better chance at keeping it together but it is only a matter of time before she pops at HC 11psi ish boost levels without forged drop-ins or a fully forged motor. The more I read about the 6.2HC the more I realize what an accomplishment that thing is....

From what I'm reading the 6.4 isn't an option in 2018. See earlier posts
