Yeah, as Scott/Milous/FCA/Pundits have said, looks like MY17 is last 6.4, MY18 will be a one and done for the SC 6.2 and MY19 will bring new power....twin terb V6? SC V6? The talk is the "hemi" is dead which may also mean "V8" or it may not...viper is dead, the 'vette is doing it, etc...bigger displacement V8's are dying/dead, they just don't know it yet....here come the hyper mouse motors..."grunt" will be heard less often

Cannot imagine an NA 6.2...would be too expensive as a 6.4 alternative since it is a totally different (better, more expensive) block/internals, hand-built and also each motor is dynoed for 42 mins at the factory (it's supposedly the limiting factor in ramping up production)...

Re: Is there a 2017 SRT Jeep

Oh I sure hope I can take a joke with as much shit as I talk.

My situation is well documented on the other forum. I'll give you the condensed version, which is still a doozy. Basically at about 30k miles and a year ago my jeep went in for service. They graciously updated my transmission software. Ever since then my jeep has been about 4/10 slower to 60 on average and it shifts violently in track mode. Primarily the 1-2. Like neck breaking and not in a good way.

I take it to the dealer and their head service boss (over the entire shop and service advisers) did a ride a long. He confirmed it wasn't correct. He arranged for a special authorization of a transmission replacement. They replaced it. Notes on the paperwork said the issue was gone. I picked it, absolutely no change. I let it go for a while.

I had the opportunity to drive a friend's brand new 15 a while later. His shifted like mine used to before the update. Very firm but not performance robbing violence. So I went back and they studied it. At the end they denied anything was wrong and said they pulled a 15 off the lot and it was normal. There exact words were "performing as designed". It was very hard for me to believe, but ok. I gave up.

About a month ago another friend got a 15, with all of the latest recalls and updates. It didn't do it either. Now I know the dealer lied. So I call SRT and the fun has begun. I'm working with Chrysler, SRT, and two dealerships who share a FCA regional manager. If they want to call me a liar, they better go on a ride a long with me in my jeep, and with me in a 16 and tell me to my face I'm wrong. It's undeniably ****ed up.

So today to check again this is not "performing as designed" I went and test drove a 2016 Night. It drove perfectly. They took a bad ass jeep that was a pleasure to drive and ruined it. The fun has been sucked out of it. They've waster a lot of my time and caused a lot of stress over an issue they are trying to pretend doesn't exist. Fortunately I've got a guy now that's ridden in it again and says it not even close to how they're supposed to shif.

It's an uphill battle but I'm not giving up.

LOL..... Hopefully you can take a joke.

Can I ask, what has happened to it that Jeep would be obliged to buy back/trade assist a vehicle that is now three years old?

Re: Is there a 2017 SRT Jeep

Worth noting that if a 16 drove as bad as mine, I'd sell my jeep as is with all mods and get something completely different. My future loyalty as an FCA customer is on the fence.

A-kon, I'm not sure if my situation is related at all since I have a tune, but my trans has a similar violent, truly neck-breaking shift as well. It only happens in paddle shifting mode, typically from 1-2, during WOT. It has made me fear that my trans is going to blow out before I hit 50K because it's happened about 2 dozen times. It has caused the tires to screech during these shifts from how hard the driveline locks up - I have hit 1.2 peak G's (forward). It's like hitting a brick wall for a split second... sometimes the Jeep will rock back and forth, trigger ESP, all sorts of shit.

Like I said, I am tuned and I don't think it did this prior to. I have all TQ management currently removed, and when I notified my tuner, he said I'm the first person to report such a thing. I have a new tune I need to try with some TQ management re-introduced (not 100%), but I pray it solves the problem because I feel like it has hurt the trans... I hope it hasn't, but there is no way those shifts were good for it. I've also had a problem where 4-5 and 5-6 upshifts with moderate throttle sometimes create a major slipping feeling in the driveline. The Jeep shudders and I can feel throughout my body when it happens.

I got the most recent software updates as of April 2016. Prior to that, my 1-2 shifts were really firm (in standard/ECO mode - not normal) and I had a bad clunk on coasting downshifts, typically 5-4 or 4-3.

Re: Is there a 2017 SRT Jeep

Has the dealer performed a "Quicklearn" on the transmission during the whole ordeal?

Re: Is there a 2017 SRT Jeep

interesting, maybe I saw some early talk before they found out what a grand slam they had on their hands and then to extend it to the JGC/Durango? platform I see why they would keep a potent motor active in the fleet until nearer the real end of V8's, whenever that actually happens.
