Is there a specific break-in protocol.......

for the WK2 SRT8 or is it just like the Porsche, drive it like you stole it from day 1?

I think that's a great question. My WRX said nothing over 4000 rpm for the first 1000 miles.

Re: Is there a specific break-in protocol.......

Everyone has their own opinion on this but what I did was no WOT runs from a dig only did a WOT run while the vehicle was moving at 20mph up to 50mph every 100 miles of that break in (500 miles) and just take it easy.

Funny thing was that I hit my 500th mile on the drive to Atco to run it. LOL

Oh and when I got back from ATCO I changed the oil.

So yeah after the 500th mile put a fresh batch of M1 in it. I'm sure you know that already.

Re: Is there a specific break-in protocol.......

I stand by the harder break in theories for reasons in this cool link, guy is referencing bikes but its same concept here.

http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

I believe like mentioned above, that most if not all vehicles are broken in from the manufacturers. They obviously have to test/clear every piece of equipment going into them including engines etc so Id bet that they run the engines methodically hard to the point that the ring seals are all well seated and fitted to the cylinder walls.

Id just run it like you would if it were any other day and you had 450+hp under your foot
