I think it really has more to do with temperature. I believe the current t stat operates around 200 or 250 degrees (tbc) but the 180 releases coolant at a lower temp so the engine stays cooler so you get better performance and I imagine your oil doesn't suffer such a hammering as well. I think this is Fahrenheit so I don't know if my engine has even gotten that hot anyway. Once you go metric system, you never go back or want to.

Edit: according to Jet, the factory opens and closes at 195 Deg F. Also you get cooler, denser air into the engine. Nice.

Thanks mate for the tip , just going to hold off now on the CAI as I'm thinking real hard with the Whipple SC ,just going to see how the car turns out that they are testing . Again thanks Radknight
