Just purchased Canadian 2015 SRT

So I just purchased a SRT today it had just under 10k miles. I was trying to activiate Uconnect when I didn't have the options. I called the Uconnect people and they informed me my SRT was a Canadian model. So I was wondering what else is different than the US model? Is there a way to upgrade the firmware of the 8.4AN to the US software? I tried google searching but wasn't able to find anything

Thanks

I don't know anything about the uconnect upgrade but I do recall a message in the forum warning that Canadian SRTs did not have manufacturer warranty so you may want to check that out. Fwiw, I'm Canadian so worst case scenario you can sell it to me

That Canadian Uconnect 8.4AN does not come with the cell chip in it so it cannot be added. And as far as u know as long as you have a Canadian VIN, you will not be able to add an American 8.4 and have it work.

Shieeet... for a second I thought his location said Toronto, Canada...

Yeah man, I hope you know the warranty situation. You also cannot buy a Mopar/Jeep extended warranty. If the dealer screwed you, make them buy you an aftermarket warranty at the very least unless you got a KILLER deal.

Any car from Canada brought to US, registered and bought here voids any manufacture warranty or extended warranty. Ford does it too..

You sir got screwed

Re: Just purchased Canadian 2015 SRT

The Canadian warranty is only 3 years and 36K miles, no additional powertrain warranty so you are not missing much.

Subbie09,
Where did you find this information?
I'm surprised that Ford voids warranty when bringing a Canadian car into the US. When doing the opposite (US Ford into Canada) the warranty remains valid.
The same holds true for Audi, BMW, MB, Suzuki, Subaru, Lexus, Toyota and Volvo.

If what you are saying is true/accurate, I'm surprised it is one sided.

Shawn.

I personally almost bit on a "steal" used deal in Canada and when I asked why they were including a 5/60 (I think) extended service contract the dealer told me. I then called FCA and they confirmed it. MVP also confirmed I could not buy their coverage besides their coverage is "on top" of the factory warranty and won't cover what the factory does (or was supposed to cover if valid).

While I have no response as to why others don't chop warranties either way it makes sense they would allow someone to pay the higher price (dealers win) in US given the exchange rate is so lop-sided the other way. Makes total sense they would want to stop the "pay less in Canada" US buyers would be doing if they/we could....I mean when a $75k (US) SRT is being sold used for $52k (CAN In Canada) that's basically only $40k to a US buyer with nothing but some paperwork and taxes to pay that deal still nets out as a sweet deal in my book and I can see why they would want to keep a fair playing field for the dealers. I will not own one of these out of warranty and I won't deal with a 3rd party service contract entity.

Re: Just purchased Canadian 2015 SRT

I understand the reasoning to protect their dealers especially in border areas.
Keep in mind, as this maybe new to most of you, for the last 10 years the opposite has been true. With the historically weak US dollar and strong CND dollar Canadians where doing the opposite. Over the past 10 years I (friends, family and myself) have bought 7 cars from the US, saving as much as almost $30,000 on the same car in Canada. My last was a Tacoma where I bought brand new and the warranty was good on both sids of the border.
Most dealers (especially ones close to the border who run into this a lot) refused to sell stating that their franchise agreement was in jeopardy. As I got further from the border most dealers where just happy for the sale and didn't know any better.

In the early 2000's I think, there were lawsuits settled against manufacturers cancelling warranties, and a lot of them changed their policies.
Hence my surprise about Subie09 statement about Manufacturers cancelling warranties.

Shawn.

Re: Just purchased Canadian 2015 SRT

Well apparently ford, Chrysler, Toyota.and Honda all do it and that is just from quick search. I have a jr auto protect warranty on my vette they seem to be the only ext. Warranty with a perfect bbb rating. I paid 53k for the 2015 with 9900 miles and it's 1600 for the warranty. It's bumper to bumper appears to be similar to factory warranty and longer.
