Kooks Catback exhaust feedback

Looking at different exhausts and contemplating the Kooks Catback exhaust setup to compliment my a RIPP kit. Will a catback setup improve performance or is it really just a cosmetic improvement to the sound. Looking for something that's as drone free as possible plus I like the idea you can still use the factory tips. Anyone else have this setup or can comment on some of my questions.

Re: Kooks Catback exhaust feedback

I have the Kooks set up. I really like the sound, but it does have some drone to it. It has a very deep sound which I really like and screams at WOT. The exhaust is a quality set up and I also really like the fact you can use the factory tips, a bit of a sleeper look to it. The only thing I have to say bad about it is that the fitment wasn't great, especially the back section. It took a lot of adjusting but I finally have got it all lined up, just takes some patience. I also felt a little increase in power, I have ran a 4.2 0-60 after with just the exhaust. I got a great deal on the exhaust also, right at 1k.

Thanks. Is the drone only when MDS kicks in or do you have that tuned out?

Re: Kooks Catback exhaust feedback

It's the worst when MDS kicks in. I usually turn it off on short trips, but noticed on a 10 hour trip earlier this year. It's noticeable but not too bad. My wife didn't even care about it though.

would be interested in this too!

Compared to what other setup is the kooks loudness?
Is it similiar to an AMG V8 from the loudness factor (not the sound)?

Re: Kooks Catback exhaust feedback

I believe the Kooks cat back has a good deep sound. It's not crazy loud and doesn't have the rasp as some of the others I have heard. I like the fact it's really deep sound especially at cold idle. It can get loud at WOT, but not GT Haus open mode loud.

Re: Kooks Catback exhaust feedback

would you say, the kooks catback is louder than the Borla Atak?
Do you have a good sound-video? :-)
