Re: Launch control 0-100km times vs Sport mode 0-100km times

Daz, were your last 2 cars performance cars? I have in the past had two Ford Territory turbos (one an F6X which had a sticker in the fuel door saying FPV recommends 98) and only ran 98 in both of those. Don't know if 95 would have made any difference or not though.

Like gcgms above I use Shell 98 (use the Coles discount too lol) as it "claims" to help keep the engine internals clean (but that's another argument for another day lol).

Re: Launch control 0-100km times vs Sport mode 0-100km times

Daz, after having to run my srt on a tank of regular unleaded at about 1500km (due to the servo not having anything else) I would bet that 98 would almost give you a half second improvement. My current pb is a 4.7 sec 0-100 stock standard on 98 with 3500km. Any car will run cooler not hotter by using 98 due to higher octane rating which burns much more efficiently and allows more air particles to be mixed and combusted resulting in more power. More air means more power ALWAYS.

Launch control 0-100km times vs Sport mode 0-100km times

I have only ran 91 in my srt to date. My best time so far is 4.5 with launch control but it runs regular 4.7's without launch control. I have driven it hard since I drove it off the show room so maybe this has helped with logging quick times. The car has run about 800kms so far.

I wasn't aware I needed to use anything else. I assume I am meant to be using 98?

Re: Launch control 0-100km times vs Sport mode 0-100km times

RON95 should be the minimum, as our cars prefer the higher octane. They will run on 91, but it will pull the timing to prevent pinging and this will reduce power.
I only feed mine Shell V-Power 98

Yeah mate , to get the best out of this thing you really should be using 98. Your previous car was an amg c63 wasn't it. Surely you were putting 98 in that .

I am impressed by your memory. To be honest I don't know what I was thinking, I checked the user manual and it clearly says to use 98 Ron fuel. I didn't hear any pinging so I don't imagine there was any/much damage done. Man it is good to be back in a performance car again.

Re: Launch control 0-100km times vs Sport mode 0-100km times

Sorry for the late reply to the thread i started, ok so on a tank of 98 my time dropped to 4.9, with tank half full.

I then did the diablosport InTune tune for 98 and got it down to 4.7, same time on 2 passes, exact same time with launch control

I've done around the 2000km now,

Definitely not looking like going sub 4.5 without any further mods, which at this stage im only looking at some form of CAI, which I've been reading plenty about on these forums, bwoody seams the best but requires more difficult installation, anyway im months of doing anything so I'll see how the times go as the motor gets more "run in"

Cheers guys

Re: Launch control 0-100km times vs Sport mode 0-100km times

Mate, I'm running 4.7 secs with the Injen CAI at less than 1/2 a tank of 98 RON.

It's been a couple months now, did you get the CAI and Tuner? If so what are you running now?
