Launch control 0-100km times vs Sport mode 0-100km times

Gday, this is my first post! I'm been reading all your posts for weeks but I thought I could contribute.

Ive had my 2014srt8 for a few months, im in Adelaide, Australia, once I'd done around the 1500km mark I gave the launch control a go, but i didnt get any faster than just going flat on the gas in sport mode, and my times are consistently 5.2sec in both modes, which is a bit slow to other figures I'm reading. Does everyone else get faster times using launch control, and if so by how much?

I have only run with 91 octane fuel so far as the dealership said the 98 fuel would burn too hot, he did say if i wanted to run a tank of 95 obtain perhaps every 5 fills.

But i Love my SRT!

P.S ordered a Diablosport I-1000-DCX inTune yesterday, there seams to be opinion that it may not make too much difference to the 2014 model but I am interested in the 98 octane tune so I can run the better fuel

If you are talking 91 and 98, I guess you are in Australia ?

Put in the highest octane you can get. I have run 98 since I got it and it runs great.
I have not used LC yet, so I am unsure of the times, but being a performance car, you will want to feed it the best fuel available.

Re: Launch control 0-100km times vs Sport mode 0-100km times

As Enforcer says, 98 octane is the best for starters. At 1500ks your car is nowhere near its potential, still a lot of breaking in to go on all components. I can easily pull below 5s just by lazily planting my foot in auto mode.....in my haste i often forget about the dial. Give it aleast another 5000ks.

I'm in Perth and have run nothing but 98octain as well. Running 91 you would be getting some timing removed hence the times. I've run a best of 4.7 with 1200ks on the clock....only tried a few times.

Re: Launch control 0-100km times vs Sport mode 0-100km times

OK so I ran the tank to empty of the 91 octain fuel and today filled up with 98 octane.

Ill perhaps wait till the tank is half full (a little less weight) and give the beast another 0-100km test.

Hopefully the diablosport InTuneDCX arrives soon to and I can compair the before and after times.

Ill post the results.

Re: Launch control 0-100km times vs Sport mode 0-100km times

Dude, running 91 (RON) in Australia is like 87 here in the states. That's your problem. The Jeep can handle 91 and 93 USA (AKI). Running 87 (91 Australia) is terrible for the Jeep. You should only be running 98 if available, at the very least 95.

There's a reason the gas tank area says "premium unleaded fuel only".

Also, as other have said your car isn't even close to being fully broken in. And once it is, in a 2014 track mode should always be the fastest if it's dry out.

For the few cents a litre difference why would you?

I have only ever ran 98 in mine.

Re: Launch control 0-100km times vs Sport mode 0-100km times

I ran 95 in my last two cars and just didn't find a performance benefit with 98 and for some reason the 95 gave slightly more k's per tank??
