Lifetime warranty no longer available on 2016 GC SRT

When I ordered my 2016 SRT the dealer told me that the lifetime warranty was available with a surcharge. Now they tell me that not only is the liftetime not available, but the powertrain warranty dropped to 60,000 miles. I guess I won't be keeping it that long. The reason I picked SRT over waiting on Trackhawk was because he told me the hellcat and Trackhawk don't offer lifetime. This is my every day driver. I put 25,000 miles a year on my cars. I would've bought a 2015 if I would've known that they were going to drop the lifetime warranty.

I feel you there. I put 25k per year on as well, and the lifetime warranty was such a selling point.

This is the first I'm hearing of it, however I'd check with another dealer to confirm.

Re: Lifetime warranty no longer available on 2016 GC SRT

I know it does but it's not available according to a couple dealers I talked to. When they put the vin on the max is 8 years 120,000 miles. If you put a 2015 vin in its available.

Call Mopar vehicle protection and tell them you want to buy the lifetime.. Do not ask if they offer it just tell them you want to buy it. If they say no then it's over.. And I will now know for sure that my 2014 isn't going anywhere cause I have lifetime on it.. Lol..

Re: Lifetime warranty no longer available on 2016 GC SRT

The dealer got them to make an exception arguing that I would've bought a 2015 if I would've known. I would suggest anyone interested in a 2016 SRT, with a lifetime warranty, to make sure you have the dealer put it in the purchase agreement. That way if they say it's not available you'll have it in writing. I also got the wheel and tire warranty which covers up to $1500/ year. That's one occurrence in the SRT's case.

My thoughts exactly. The 2016 sounded tempting, as does the trackhawk; however the warranty is just too important to me.

Glad you got the warranty. It sucks they are not offering it now. It screws up my plans for buying a 2017.

Trust me! For $3000 they'll be losing money. That's why they're not offering it anymore on the SRT's

Re: Lifetime warranty no longer available on 2016 GC SRT

The fact that the powertrain warranty is reduced to from 100k to 60k for '16 probably figured in. That change would mean the MaxCare Lifetime would have to kick in at 60k now not 100k....that's a decent cost shift onto the MaxCare plan so they would likely have to increase the plan cost as a result and I think they correctly realized any significant plan cost increase would not be well received.....maybe I'm thinking too hard but that's what I'm thinkin' at the moment.

Overall yes. Especially if you bought a diesel. I hear those have some problems. And the cherokee 9 speeds. I'm betting I'll never need 3k worth of repairs. Dealers are shady tho and if you have the warranty nothings wrong but if you don't have a warranty lots of stuff needs repair. Hmm

It's true that warranties are not for you the customer but another revenue source for the dealer because everyone with perfectly good vehicles buy it and only some need it. But I'd think the more expensive the truck the higher the amount would be better if they wanted to offer it and at some price point nobody would bite. So I guess it is possible for me to concede they could lose money esp on the SRT since they sell way more Laredo.
