Looking to sell my 2012 SRT8, how do you assess....

a fair value for it?
Which sites give you the most realistic numbers and where would you sell it if not trading it in to the dealer?

Thanks.....

P.S. Ordering a 2017 SRT

Start at Carmax they give decently ballpark and you get 7 days to decide to take the $ or not.

2nd the carmax, you'll get the most selling private though. And did you pick a color?

I sure wish they had the plain old regular old school black like my 2006 wk1 srt8 did. I love the depth and timeless look of plain old black. I dont hate it completely (duh...mine is black) but I dont love the metallic black.

I have never achieved the same level of detailed wow factor as I have in the past with past plain old black vehicles that I have owned.

Re: Looking to sell my 2012 SRT8, how do you assess....

When I took my 2015 SRT 392 Charger to CarMax, they only offered $38K. I got offers from dealers for 42K-44K. But prior to that, the '13 R/T Charger I traded for the 392, CarMax offered $25K and the dealer only gave me $22K... went with the dealer because I didn't want to finance over $50K on the new car and I got a tax credit on the trade, and since I'd have to wait for the CarMax check, pay off the old loan, then apply the leftover to the new loan since I had positive equity.

It's hit or miss for me with them.

Re: Looking to sell my 2012 SRT8, how do you assess....

I agree that you can get more $ if you sell your Jeep privately. However, I've developed a long-time relationship with my Jeep dealer & have always got a reasonable trade-in value when buying new. Before trading in, I find out what the price would be if I sold privately, and then use this as a negotiating tool when finalizing the price on the new one. I've found I usually just about break even in trade-in versus private sale value when you consider the time I save not having to list the Jeep privately & go through the private sale process. The dealer has the maintenance records for my old Jeeps & knows it'll be a quick sales flip for my trade-in.
