Re: Melbourne SRT Club

Hey, bought mine from Essendon fields Jeep. I originally bought my MY12 GC limited from them and they have been great to me but this time because my jeep came so close to Xmas they had not been given any info on receiving date of the car so when I follow up the other day they still had not been given the delivery date they emailed head office then sent me a reply with head offices reply of no info, then yesterday they called and finally were able to get a answer from head office. I have dealt with other dealers and the only other dealer that has come close to been as open and helpful as Essendon was city jeep.. ( in my experience)

If you have it, flaunt it.. if you don't then move out of my way so I can admire the ones that do..

Re: Melbourne SRT Club

Hi All,

After a week of ownership my new new toy is in for her 1200k service (complementary change of fluids and address any niggles) and getting a towbar added before our trip to Qld. I am loving my new SRT but annoyed about how the gearbox is clunky with downshifts on 6,5 and 4th gears which apparently is a training issue of the gearbox (we will see) Anyway safe trip to all traveling over the xmas break and will hope to see you all at the next meet in the new year.

1,200km in, your box should have learnt by now, it doesn’t take that long, although it does keep learning.
There are two service bulletins to do with SRT poor shifting. See - http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_2101714a.pdf & http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_2103814.pdf

Re: Melbourne SRT Club

Hi Guys,

Just need help with the decision.

I have got the 2012 Overland diesel and don't have major problem with it apart from minor issues and re-call. The warranty due to expire very soon (3months) and I'm looking to trade it in with the Either My14 SRT or My15 SRT (depending on the deal).

What hounding me the most is the 8-speed gear box being problematic with most people said it's Clunky, lurching and downshifting roughness, etc. Which my 5 speed doesn't have. So I'm thinking it's either I keep my 2012 Overland because it's more less problem or go with the SRT all the way (hopefully don't have the issues with the Transmission). Maybe I'm a bit of paranoid after everyone wrote and told me that Jeep reliability is not very good.

Also another reason I'm trading it in, because my 2012 need Major service soon (~$1300), need set of new tyres (~$1200) and extended warranty ($2500-$3500). it's all adding up on getting a newer model car.

So any suggestion that would help enlighten me would be a great. thanks

Re: Melbourne SRT Club

Hey mate, I have a 14 SRT and don't I don't have any issues with the gearbox being clunky. I just this morning loaded up the Diablo Trinity tune to my car. I took it for a quick spin before work. It did feel like the gear changes were smoother. I'll let you know more after some more driving. However nothing compares to an SRT. You won't be unhappy getting one.

Re: Melbourne SRT Club

If only this was a couple of years down the track. I'll be looking to swap my MY15 SRT for an Limited or Overland diesel at the end of 2017 for a trip around Aus.

I would not be too concerned about the 8 speed. My SRT is dead stock and I did have quite noticeable clunk during downshifts over the first 1500km or so. Under regular driving conditions now the changes are super smooth. Put into track mode is another story, but that is to be expected.

I had the same reservations around build quality and reliability. My SRT is my daily driver and it has not missed a beat to date. Personally I would be putting more emphasis on the after sales service of your dealer. Like everyone else I'm sure you've read some genuine horror stories (e.g destroymyjeep.com). My experience to date with Melbourne City Jeep has been pretty good and I've also heard some pretty good things for Essendon Jeep.

Re: Melbourne SRT Club

if your looking at extended warranties read the very fine print there are lots of hidden outs an conditions for the dealer and items are generally capped. cheapest i found was $1995.00 but i wont be getting one.
