Re: Melbourne SRT Club

In some ways the fact that no one else in Oz has this issue with their Jeep GC makes me feel a little better about the brand in general; I guess I have just been unlucky to get a lemon rather than the build quality of the brand in general being crap.

Nevertheless if the dealer tells me it CAN't be fixed and I end up getting rid of the car (at considerable $ loss to me) then psychologically it's going to be really difficult for me to invest in another FCA product again.

Don't be too down. I, like others have ear to ear smiles but it sounds like no one has really had a crack at fixing your issue. I think the dealership will sort it out and you'll be happy again about the buy. It ain't a lemon unless everything starts breaking, so have faith they'll sort it out which I think they will and you'll be right.
Keep us posted.

Re: Melbourne SRT Club

If it is that bad, then the best course of action may be to get a independent expert to provide a report you can take to Jeep AU. At least you will know what is wrong with it and Jeep may be able to fix it.

I wish you luck as you may need it.

Re: Melbourne SRT Club

After 8 weeks and much anticipation I finally took delivery on Friday of the beast. Done nothing but drive all weekend trying to get 800km on the clock so I can finally drive it like it was intended to be driven. Very impressed with it so far. Definantly keen to do a cruise soon if any of you guys are interested. Haven't installed my Injen yet but will soon. So far I have just removed the jeep front badge and replaced it with an SRT badge and removed the Grand Cherokee from the front doors. Looks much better this way IMO.

Re: Melbourne SRT Club

Installed my Injen a little over a week ago. Pretty happy with it but I'm in two minds. It sounds awesome and definantly gives the engine a deeper roar and makes some cool sounds when it's sucking in air similar to a turbo or blower, a few people have even asked me if it's supercharged. However I've been watching the AIT's and they are pretty close to the stock box as long as your not sitting in traffic for long periods of time. Once heat soak takes over it takes a while for temperatures to get back down. I drove a short distance from my work to home crawling through CBD traffic and popped the bonnet and both the tube and filter where very hot. In normal driving when I'm not crawling light to light the temps do stay very reasonable. My best 0-100 before install was 4.9 and with the Injen on a wet road I got 4.7 with only 900k on the clock so far (same road, same temps). So I'd say it's made a difference but like I said it is very susceptible to heat soak. I may look at ways to get more air in around the filter to try and improve things and reduce heat soak. I don't know if any of you guys have had a look around the air inlet area but the washer bottle goes all the way down and blocks the lower air intake on the passenger side. I think I may look getting someone to cut in half so more air can flow up. I don't know why they blocked a use full area for air to get to the intake with a ridiculously large washer bottle. On a side not I have plasti dipped the rear jeep badge, replaced the front jeep badge with an SRT badge, removed the grand Cherokee lettering from the side and blacked out the window chrome which looks way better. I'll post some pics when I figure out how but it dosent seem to want to do I to my ipad.

Re: Melbourne SRT Club

Is anyone keen on getting some parts from Black Ops Autos. I've been speaking to Chad about getting a front splitter but shipping is a bit of a killer. If we can get a few guys together that are after some larger or heavier parts (springs, wheels, exhaust etc) on the one shipment it works out to be a bit more reasonable. Let me know if your interested.
