[QUOTE=PIXER;1088834]
So then I went out and did the true to the pound math based on the trailers plate. It says total weight (GTW) not to exceed 9,999lbs. It also says not to loan more than 6,199lbs of cargo in the trailer.
So by that deduction of 9999-6199= $3,800lbs.
Ford/ media says my car weighs 3,852lbs stock. I have done ~325lbs of weight reduction on the vehicle (front suspension, brakes, wheels, rear suspension). I plan to get it all on the scales for good measure but by my calculations with nothing in the trailer besides the car I am looking a GTW of 7,327lbs
Which is only 127lbs over Jeeps claimed 7,200lb tow limit...
Add in doing distribution Hitch and sway bars and I do not see myself doing damage to the Jeep. (especially since I will not have but maybe 1 passenger and I am sure Jeep rated the CGVW to include some form of passenger/ cargo in the Jeep itself)
I have no reason to take my show wheels with me to the track (300lbs) or any other equipment other than helmet and tire inflator (which might not even have to take it).
So with the winch and little amount of gear mentioned I am 200lbs over the 7,200 limit.... Not a huge deal.

We can see there's no way of simply showing you what you already to know about overloading your vehicle. Once you've been to the scales - it may be interesting.
Where you are erring - the vehicle weight your basing it on - dry weight or actual? If dry, you forgot to add things like fuel and whatever accoutrements you've added (extinguisher, etc)....A weight distributing hitch - figure adding another 100# to your vehicle weight.
Spare tires? Plus you can check with others - general recommendation is to not load more than 80% of the towed weight to allow for elevation, inclination, and other weather and terrain factors. By that your towed capability is 7200*.8 = 5760#
But don't pay no mind - enjoy your SRT tow vehicle, we'll wave as it smokes on the side of the road and the warranty is invalidated.

Sounds like you need to sell that GT500 and stop worrying about towing the damn thing everywhere lol. More of a PITA than its worth haha.

I am always amazed at people try to justify irresponsible and dangerous behavior.

200-400lbs over the limit it not irresponsible and should not be dangerous. (That's 1-2 passengers worth of weight.)

I looked at and drove every truck out there... only thing that came even remotely close to performance/ luxury of the srt was the Sierra Denali with the 6.0 option.... but still not as nice and too big.

I also drove some "cheap" (sub $10k) diesels and while the regular cab, long bed 7.3 manual F350 had some fun to it..you really shouldn't let them sit all year to be used 3 or 4 times a year.... So I'm going to stay with the SRT.
I will post pics and videos as well as give a good honest, non biased review for those who might be thinking of doing the same thing.

BTW, I found a good size group of people using 05-08 Cayenne ' s to do exactly what I will. And they are rated to tow even less than the SRT.

Re: Might have to cancel order... Opinions please!

So you'll spend $5k+ on a trailer that gets used a few times a year, but that expenditure is too much for a proper tow rig that gets used a few times a year to haul said trailer? Never mind the truck could be used on the weekends to run errands and it is always nice to have a back up vehicle.

Also saying that other people with Cayennes do the same thing is like justifying it is ok to drink and drive because plenty of other people do it.

Good luck with your decisions! It is clear you had your mind made up before you even posted the original question and pages of people telling you no wasn't enough to get through your thick skull.

I can understand from most of your point of views that is just another mustang... but that is not the case.
I ordered my car, was able to find it for MSRP (at the time and 6 month +/- of my order dealers everywhere were charging $10k-$20k over MSRP for this car)
I drove to the plant to watch final production, then picked it up at the dealer with them doing a pdi only... so no one other than myself has ever washed it, drove it (except on/ off carrier truck/ assembly line)
I even rode with the tech during the pdi...
it's a special cat not just to me.

regardless, it has and will hold its value much more than the Jeep
Its still just a mustang.

Re: Might have to cancel order... Opinions please!

You need a truck, not a Jeep.
In my opinion, towing over the rated limit of the tow vehicle, i.e. trailer weight, tongue weight, axel load of tow vehicle, gross combined vehicle weight, is dangerous and irresponsible.

get the SRT for your daily driver, but get something else to tow the 'stang.

The wife and I bought our Overland diesel to tow a camping trailer. We will not be getting one that has a gross weight over 5000 - 5500 lbs. We live in Colorado, and the mountains have hills and the Eisenhower tunnel.

Safety first, ego last.

Yup, his mind was already made up and he wasn't going to be swayed.
