My 1500 mile review

Just a little over 1500 miles this week. I want to share some things now that I've calmed down a bit.

First the bad:

A couple of paint issues, a few blemishes underneath the clear. Not that big a deal but you dont have to look hard for them.

The front of the bumper cover is off. Almost as if the bumper cover is too big for the fenders. Sticks out a little wide and hangs a little long from where it meets the fender. Tried shoving it in place, no luck.

Bluetooth. Have NOT gone in yet to dealer, too busy, will do next week.

Brake dust. I know , I know, I'll get the Hawks around 3000 miles.

Headlights are adjusted HIGH. I get flashed every night on the way to work. Iv'e compared it to my wife's car, my old Tahoe and a couple of my buddies vehicles. I'm higher than all. dealer next week.

The thing that bothers me the most. The AC. It almost nevers comes on to the setting I left it at.

Why the heck does it almost always turn off the dual climate? I drive alone 99% of the time, who gives a %* about the passenger side?

I wish the autostart would start with the AC where I left it. Heck even when I just start it the AC is not where I last set it. Frustrated.

Now the GOOD:

OMG is this truck FUN to drive!!!!

I just see an opening in traffic and it's like I think about it and the truck gets me there.

For me the subtle humm I get when driving is pleasing but when I step on it, it growls. Love that.

I had to learn how to use the brakes on this truck. Stops faster than my patrol car or the old Tahoe.

Comfort is top notch. Two 60 plus mile trips in one day. No leg fatigue,no sore back. Heaven to drive, steering wheel controls are great.

I thought I loved the looks of this, turns out others do to. I don't know how many thumbs up I've got, or how many times at the light someone is asking me to roll down my window so they can ask about it.

"duuuuuude, that's badass!" is what most say. Guy or gal. Real head turner ( if you're into that , this truck will get attention)

I truly LOVE to drive it. I can't think of another SUV I'd really want to be in,really.

very nice review....

I had a few paint blemished in mine, but that's going to happen and I was being really picky

the bumper on mine is fine, so not really sure about that part.

my Bluetooth works great, just cant text because I have an iPhone and it doesn't support it.

headlight, F^%$ if they blind other people...not my problem...

AC, I feel where your coming from.

brake dust.....??? look at the size of the brakes!!!! you don't want brake dust then jeep was the wrong move.... I like when the rims get dirty, means I get to wash her again :D

and as for the good.....couldn't agree more!

The climate controls are pissing me off. I thought I read somewhere that there was a temperature that it had to be for peoples heated seats and steering wheel to come on. I'd like my vented seat to come on automatically (which I have checked to do on vehicle start) and so far (86F) it has yet to do.

I'm really just too lazy to look up that thread to get the low down right now because works is wearing me out everyday so far. One day I'll look into this.... One day.

MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT:

My paint is flawless except where the dealership pointed out where they had scratched it or it came scratched. It looks like someone unloaded a 1 foot brillo pad and scratched the bumper inlay and there were two small scratches on the side. When it came down to it, they were going to try to hand polish it and then put a good layer of wax on it and then "I'd never see it.".... UNTIL THE WAX COMES OFF. Or really until it never works. I bought it anyways and thought I could deal with it later at another dealership that didn't suck ass. Nope, Jeep won't cover it even thought SRT told me it was a warranty issue.

Headlights are crazy, bluetooth is fine, the head unit shut off once and came back on a few minutes later, and my bumper is fine after 800 miles.

Has anyone used the ceramic Hawk front brakes? Did it make a huge difference?

While not on a SRT I do have the same Brembo's on my current car (FPV F6X, which you don't have in the US). I changed to Hawk Ceramics a year ago and the reduction in dust is amazing. Definitely worth changing them over. Here is Aus they cost around AU$300!

theheadlamps have an up/down adjustment screw. Pull up to your garage door(closed obvioiusly) and find the adjustment screw just above the orange sidemarker lense on the top far right and left of the lamp. You just need a phillips screwdriver. You will be able to see the beam adjust on your door.

I gave up looking for that the first time I asked you about it! lololol:eek:

When I went by the dealer to pick up my plates I asked a service guy about it and he told me he would have to adjust them " through the computer ".

Congrats I'm envious of you 8speeders!
I'm at 33000 miles and am happy to say this has turned out to be one of my least troubled vehicles I've owed. My biggest issue was wrong fluid fill from factory in transfer case made vehicle squirrely at speed cause it wasn't unlocking right, a number of 2012s were affected but after that its been great. OEM Exhaust is louder over time especially when hot. I just changed my stock pads at 30k to Hawk hps in the front, OEM still going strong on the rears. You can clearly less dust on the fronts. You should know dealer wants 1100 per axle for brakes .

absolutely! The stock brakes are awesome...but way to dusty. I may try another combo on my 14'...but I will have the brembo sport rotors.,..they are world class

Ive been trying to upload a pic I took with my phone and the android app SUCKS! Ill have a pic as soon as I can get it to upload. There is a hole just above the corner lamp.....just a regular phliips driver wil adjust it. Turn it left or right to adjust the beam

Thanks for the review. When you speak on the A/C on start up I know where your coming from. The new 2013 RAM's are the same way.. One thing I did to somewhat fix the issue of the fan speed changing, I turned off the comfort assist in settings which has seemed to help. Try that and let me know if the Jeep is the same.
