So this is my first initial write up after drive the Wk2 SRT for 6 days (got 500km on her now). I’ve never owned an SRT before or even driven an old Jeep SRT, however I have ridden in one and as such had a feel for the ride somewhat along with the comfort and some features. From what I’ve experienced so far the 2012 is much more comfortable to sit in than the Wk1 that I had sat and got a ride in before, the seats feel to be more quality and the interior finished are a night and day difference over the Wk1. I’m absolutely loving the extended leather on the door panels and the leather dash board rather than all the hard to touch plastics. The headunit (stock nav) in the 2012 is fantastic in my opinion, previously in my old F-150 I had a Pioneer avic d-3 and this is much more responsive and a lot faster to load and preform tasks on such as finding routes and what not. The hard-drive is definitely a plus for me, as loading songs was pretty fast via a usb, took just a couple minutes to load about 40 songs. I have the upgraded 19 speaker system in my 2012 also and it is amazing the speakers are very clear and sound great, however, it doesn’t have as much bass as I thought it would but who am I kidding it’s a factory 10” subwoofer, can’t expect it to blow me away. That’s why in a few days I’m having a custom box built for the truck and putting in my 2 10’s with a 1000 watt alpine amp (don’t like too much bass so I’ll have it turned way down I just like nice crisp clean bass).
Secondly the shifts when cruising and jumping around rpm’s are pretty smooth and nice, the power increase is awesome for me going from a F-150 (some performance mods) probably around 340hp to this beast is just insane. Again I haven’t ran it super hard yet either since I am still breaking it in, however, the sport mode and track modes do make a great difference. It’s an awesome feeling when getting on the on ramp to the freeway and it just take off like there’s no tomorrow, even when only hitting 3000rpm or so it gets going, love that. Also I did get to use the SNOW mode last week because we got about ½” snow on the roads here locally and it performed like a champ, minor slippage here and there going down hills on icy parts but that is expected, but it did perform great otherwise. I have also started to use the manual shifting via the gear stick and sometimes the paddle shifters, I find those things great and love how fast the shifts are when activated. Also love the exhaust note when going WOT, I will be keeping my exhaust stock as my previously truck was extremely noisy due to the exhaust being changed out and what not, not what I want on this beast.
Overall this is a great truck, well-built with great quality, I’ve driven many x5’s, range rovers, cayennes and so on and honestly this thing stacks up against them just fine in sense of fit and finish. I’m glad I made the choice I did and will be happy to answer any more questions for those that are no the fence if you need anything just post or PM me and I’ll be glad to help out. Here are a couple more pics that I got to snap real quickly for everyone, will take pictures when the subwoofers go in on Thursday and as things progress after that.
Thanks for reading, if it helped even one person out then my job is done!
