they love cold weather like any other engine...but they aren't affected like normally aspirated V8s are...that's the point. They have intercoolers to cool that charge air some

Actually, they are affected more than naturally aspirated engines. The reason they have intercoolers is because compressing the intake charge makes it VERY hot and it has to be cooled down to avoid losing a ton of performance. And of course an intercooler can do it's job better and easier when the outside air is cold rather than hot.....that hot outside air doesn't help performance at all in a turbocharged application.

Anyway, the point here is that the BMW was NOT at an advantage because of the hot & humid air. If anything, it was at a disadvantage because of the fact that it's has turbos. The BMW's turbo engine will run quite a bit stronger in cold temps. Hell, my own car will run higher boost in cold weather than it can in hot weather. The increased boost level alone makes a difference in performance.

sorry...but the hemi engines are notorious for being affected by hot humid air...plus he has a hot air intake. READ the thread please instead of coming in here looking for an argument like 99.9% of your posts. Ive owned 6 twin turbo charged Mitsu 3000gt and Stealths...I know the BS you posted.

Re: My GC SRT14 vs. 2014 BMW X5

I'm no guru but I like to believe in the numbers that the manufactures post on there cars specs and to me it don't matter weather it was a hot day or night for the HEMI motor or the Turbo motor but that BMW will win look how quick it gets the torque down to the ground at very little rpm and it's the Nm that count , what's the SRT SC torque getting at what rpm I can't recall ? ..

Beemer Max Power 330kw @ 5500rpm
Max Torque 650Nm @ 2000rpm

SRT Max Power 344kw @ 6250
Max Torque 624Nm @ 4100

Note to self: Never try to talk performance on a Jeep forum...stick to offroad and mud talk only

All engines are affected by heat. Hot air is less dense. Some engines are more affected by heat than others, that much is true. But turbo engines are far more affected by heat than ANY naturally aspirated engine. If you have owned turbo cars, then it is shocking that you don't already know that. And if you do claim to know that, why would you say this:

The turbo engine will perform worse, not better. And if you were trying to say that the turbos will perform "less worse" than the Jeep's engine, that's false too.

Okay, I'm done. Like I said, I learned my lesson to not talk performance on a Jeep forum. Apparently, that's like talking finance on a food forum.
