Need new tires for Stock Wheels

Hey guys,

just was wondering what tires everyone is running for their either winter setup or all season set up on their stock wheels.

i think im done with the perelli scorpions and want to go a different route..

what do you guys recommend... they are mainly going to be used for winter but they dont need to be a winter tire... i have a truck that i drive all winter but certain circumstances may come that i need to drive the jeep and dont want to be caught with the summer set up on. so ya anyways let me know guys!!!

thanks!

This is the thread you are after, sounds like Toyo Proxes or the Yoko Perada are great options;

Replacement Tires non-run flats

Philly did you use the factory tires last winter? And are you in philly also? I just got a 2015 and am looking for a dedicated winter setup. Probably FR 20x9 with scorpions snow and ice

Ya man I'm in outside philly in west Chester. I did use the stock set up as a winter set and to be honest it does ok especially in snow mode. But also I don't really drive it when snow is on the ground because I'm usually plowing. So I drive my truck. But it does do ok like I said. Where you located?

Re: Need new tires for Stock Wheels

I'm in far NE Philly, near Bensalem.
From what I remember we didn't get much snow last year cold as shit though. Might get 3' this year never know. Do know which wheel size would be better 20x9 or 20x10 for a winter setup? My last two jeeps have been overlands so never worried about snow. I think I'm also worried about the brine and salt they put down earring the finish of my rims

Ah man we gotta meet up. What I would do is keep the same wheel size at 20x9 and get either all season or a winter set up. What I did last year now granite I don't typically drive it in the snow was I would seal my wheels with Adams polishes sealant. I would take the wheels off twice throughout the season. Clean real good and then seal again. And they were perfect. Not a single issue. The sealant really does help. You'll be surprised. Let's plan to meet up in November. Getting married in a few weeks so November would be awesome. Let me know man!!!

Ok sounds good. I'll be in your area next Tuesday at David dodge getting one of the calipers replaced, paint peeling of at the corner. But November sounds good. I did a lot of work in west Chester, prison, justice center and wc university also aren't are wheels 20x10?

Funny, I'm taking off the P-Zero's and putting a set of Scorpions on for the NY metro winter...

Your a brave man, are you making that change strictly for winter?

My Wrangler is my daily driver, and the SRT will only be in snow if I get caught in it on a multi-day trip.

When I bought my SRT, I wanted vapor chrome Spider Monkeys, which they had to take off another SRT that had the P-Zeroes. In the process of switching the Scorpions onto the wheels, they damaged a wheel (and tried to hide it with a blob of tire sealant). When we saw that they immediately took it into the garage with another new SRT. I assumed they were going to just swap that one wheel, instead they switched sets, and I didn't notice I had summer tires until a month later.

I was a little irritated at first, knowing how short a tread life they have, even though I was getting a $700 option for free. The traction is like nothing I've ever experienced, so I decided to keep them. However, you can't use them below 45 degrees . I found a mangled set of Spider Monkeys for $750, which I used as a core for an exchange at Detroit Wheel. So for $1800 total I have what is effectively a brand new second of wheels (vs $6000 @ the dealer!) with a gorgeous finish that looks better than the original.

Found the Scorpions for $360 on line, and the only hassle will be getting the wheels and tires to the local exotics shop that has a Hunter machine for proper mounting and road-force balancing.
