LOL.

Seems like each tire has its own set of complaints.

Pirellis: wear fast. Loud ride

Toyo: look a little narrow and don't grip well

General: Summer only? Depends on the website

Hankooks: lousy in snow. Even a little snow?

Pradas: harmonic sound that'll drive you mad

Ugh

It will look goofy, and you're changing the overall diameter of the wheel. I would not do this.

Also the ride will be worse.

what PeteK said....1.2" less diam and almost 4% speedo error (will read higher than actual)..I mean as diffs go this is not huge but it will be noticeable and a tuner could fix speedo error...

Re: Need new tires..stock rim. NOT the OEM pirellis. :)

On our third set of the Generals.

They ARE considered All season tires though I have never tried them in any snow more than an extremely light dusting.

Overall I have been very happy with them, love the looks, love the price, love the wet weather traction. Summer traction is very good, almost GREAT but not quite.

Every tire I have ever owned that I would put the "GREAT" label on for traction, would also wear extremely quickly so even though I can't put that label on these, I CAN say, the amount of grip and the wear, is a perfect trade off for me. Very happy on both of those check boxes.

They also ride VERY well, much better than the stock run flats, and though I'm sure I lost some cornering as the sidewalls aren't as stiff, it was negligible for my driving.

The ONLY issue I have... The noise... Now I haven't had the models listed previously in this thread to compare, and I can say these aren't the loudest tires I have ever had, AND, for the first 25 ~ 35% of life they do well... But as you get close to and beyond 50% tread, they DO start to get loud.

Bottom line, every tire will have compromises.

The OEM Pirelli 3 seasons came stock on our SRT and we LOVED them, no noise, VERY sticky, little harsh ride but not bad for a run flat, But they also wore out in less than 20K miles and I simply couldn't justify the cost.

I am overall very happy with the Generals but they do get louder than I would like and I did give up some cornering and slightly less stickiness, but improved daily ride quality at a much lower cost and longer tread life.

Re: Need new tires..stock rim. NOT the OEM pirellis. :)

Daniel454, thanks for the write-up...sums up what I netted out after tons of reading threads...

my spec need was:

295/45/20 size
summer only use
non-run flat
must have great wet traction
above were non-negotiable
performance (cornering, grip) vs. treadwear vs. cost mix was negotiable

After looking at all other known options the General Grabber UHP was the single option. Change one spec above and decision changes. I tried like 4ell to find the discontinued Vred Ultrac Vorti but no go so Generals on my new summer XO Verona's arrive in 3 weeks....

Re: Need new tires..stock rim. NOT the OEM pirellis. :)

I've had the Parada's for a few days now.

Pros: Cheap, look nice enough, should wear well, ride is a bit softer.

Cons: squeal, squeal, and more squeal. I've "peeled out" without meaning to several times. That never happened with the PZeros. I'm also hearing squeal on hard turns.

Waiting for the weather to dry up a bit so I can push it a bit more and see how they grip.

Very helpful. Thank you. I've been looking for something that has a nicer ride and is a bit cheaper.

My Toyos break loose. You're saying the Pradas do as well? Hmmmm

Those of you with Generals, do they bark when you drop the hammer?
