I hope we're locked in. I'm also hoping for the 8.4" touchscreen radio....
Stop hoping, it isn't happening for awhile. The electrical system and dash layout of the WK2 needs to be re-engineered to allow for it.

Re: NEW 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 wk2 base msrp 8/10

LOL, good one Milous!!!

I am not sure how involved you are in the upper ranks there, but are the insiders at Chrysler just as surprised as us enthusiasts (ex-exthusiasts now)?

Just trying to wrap my head around this and just what Chrysler is thinking and what is being said by those working at Chrysler. I thought the most basic fundamental goal of a car company was to build cars that people wanted and would/could actually afford/buy.

This whole new pricing deal across the entire SRT line is just so far out there in left field.

Re: NEW 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 wk2 base msrp 8/10

Subject: SRT8 Grand Cherokee Pricing Announcement

Reaction to the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 has been overwhelmingly positive. Its unique craftsmanship and superlative powertrain have catapulted it past its closet competition. Our most powerful Jeep ever, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 runs from 0-60MPH in 4.8 seconds with the all-new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 estimated at 470HP and 465 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain performance is only further complemented with the head-turning racing style and outstanding ride handling attributes. Given this level of performance and style, the value(jeep garage) proposition remains extraordinary as compared to European competitors offering products with MSRP’s starting at $85,000.

Dubbed the “Ultimate Performance SUV”, we are committed to exclusivity by restricting our production to exactly 3,800 vehicles for the 2012 model year in the US. We realize demand is likely to exceed this production number but we are serious about protecting the Grand Cherokee SRT8's value in the short and long term. Furthermore, take rates on both the Luxury Group II (AHN) and the benchmark performance of the SRT High Performance Audio system (AJE) from Harman Kardon have remained exceptionally high.

Both options are now automatically included with every order. In addition, the following pricing actions are effective August 10th, the Luxury Group II will have an MSRP of $4,495 and the SRT High Performance Audio system will now have an MSRP of $1,995.

Bona fide sold orders obtained by you prior to August 10th will be price protected provided that:

THE CUSTOMER NAME APPEARS ON THE FACTORY ORDER PRIOR TO SHIP DATE (KZ); the vehicle is delivered to the ordering customer within (10) calendar Days after being received by the dealer (X date) and the sale is reported to Chrysler Group LLC under the DealerCONNECT system within 2 calendar days of the sale.

You must claim price protection by inserting the price protection program number on the Exception Claim Entry Screen when reporting the sale. Use program number 27EC1.

Good Selling,

So basically, since so many were ordered with the high $ options and they didn't get scared off with the initial higher price they are raising it even more?

Re: NEW 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 wk2 base msrp 8/10

Thanks for posting that Milous. At least we know Ralph knows he is under the gun.

But......I am sorry. That complete statement if ****ing bullshit. So Chrysler's explanation to the price jacking is they want to keep it exclusive and hold its value??? Um, geez, lets take a look at the WK1 SRT8. The first 3 years a little over 3000 were produced. The final 2 years, around 1000 were produced. A used 2010 still goes for around $40K which is pretty damn good for 2-3 year old vehicle.

All this was done without price jacking. If you want to make the new SRT8 hold its value, limit the production to 3000 and let the open market decide on what it is worth.

I really think this is going to blow up in their faces. I am a contractor overseas where everyone makes over $100K on average. A lot of people are looking forward to purchasing new cars when returning to the States (myself included). I have been following the Jeep SRT8 since its inception. My office is plastered with pictures on the Jeep SRT8. People would come in the office and ask and I would proudly tell them about it and what made it special. Most people would just see a Jeep though and now I am totally embarrassed to tell them what the new SRT8 costs. Out of the 20 or so people that have shown interest in it (most like its looks and are initially interested) not one of them has shown any interest and usually laugh once I drop the (then) MSRP of $55K and the now $62K price on them. Remember, these are all people who could easily afford it, but when the price comes out, almost everyone says "for that money, you could buy (insert premium European car mfg here)"

My concern: How many dealers are going to remember to do that step required in the final part of his message?? And how is that going to affect us, the buyer?

I've reluctantly decided to continue through with the purchase after the prodding from my wife to still buy....but I refuse to get jacked for an additional $2500 because the dealer cannot follow protocol.

I spoke with my dealer today and he said he hasn't seen anything yet, but instructed me to hold on to the email that was sent to Milous. That way when it comes in if it does try to do the price hike on me we can input the code or whatever. But I'm pretty sure I'm safe seeing as I ordered in July and they finally got my name on the order on August 9th. So I may have cut it close, but I should be okay. However I'm not so dumb as to blindly hope for the best so I have copied all the relevent information from that e-mail and plan on taking it with me to the dealership when I go to pick up my jeep.

And Gilles does not need to worry about me letting my jeep sit there for 10 days. I will be there when it gets backed of the truck. I don't really want the make ready guys putting some extra miles on my Jeep just because I wasn't there to stop them

Re: NEW 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 wk2 base msrp 8/10

Was wondering if my original order did not include audio upgrade, will it be built without it? Also if anyone ordered a base model if they will build without LuxII & audio upgrade? Now those will be some rare collectors cars, lol.
