Re: New 2015 Challenger Hellcat

Looks like the Charger is getting the Hellcat powerplant. Hopefully only a matter of time before it is in the GC. Fingers crossed.

Wish it was sooner... Either way has a justified argument.

Re: New 2015 Challenger Hellcat

I have been waiting for the hellcat jeep since I first heard the rumors a couple years back. If they fix the appearance deficiencies they have today.... I will buy one as soon as I can order one.

Re: New 2015 Challenger Hellcat

I like the Charger Hellcat more than the Challenger. I could actually see myself looking at one. Of course, I would take a Jeep Hellcat above all.

The question I have is if they will offer a 6.4L version of the Charger as well like they did with the Challenger?

Seems kinda like we are going to miss our moment if we have to wait till 2018 for the Hellcat. By then the other companies will have plenty of time to catch up.

Exactly my point. How long do we expect 700+ horsepower cars to come around. Things at this point, while awesome, are probably being viewed by governing bodies as out-of-hand. 68-72 were great years for muscle cars, 1973 not so much... By 2018 there will be so many regulations on everything (guessing of course), that we will never see the Hellcat Jeep, sad for sure.

Re: New 2015 Challenger Hellcat

yup, I'm liking that charger for $63k The Charger h cat is faster than the 2 door sibling too... with AWD it would launch hellaciosly, but in a WKII package probably looking at $85k.

Re: New 2015 Challenger Hellcat

^ That's why putting it into the WK2 is a bonehead move. The SRT Jeep has been selling great since the reveal of the 2014 and it's been slower than the competitors from the start. The 6.2 SC will be a lot more affordable in the WK3 if that's the only engine available in SRT form. Development costs all at one time for a brand new platform is a hell of a lot cheaper. It's the only way to go. To those who want the Hellcat now I say be careful what you wish for. Let's not urge Chrysler to find a way to completely **** us on options. The more things standard to better off you are.

Look no further than the German marks. A Mercedes ML starts cheap. But put the same options that a $52k Overland Summit has and you are looking at an $85k ML equivalent. Options and platform variety = bend over and get raped with no lube

Re: New 2015 Challenger Hellcat

Well... if they put a new face on the current SRT and tossed in the hellcat motor I would buy one today. There's no reason why the price would jump $20k. The more vehicle they put it in the better off we will be. That being said that charger is RWD only.... It may take awhile tie it into an AWD platform.

I agree with the part with regards to the Jeep selling great. That is obvious and I would understand if they didn't do the Hellcat on this gen just because of that...

The part I don't agree with is development costs. They put the R&D into the engine, but past that there really isn't a lot of dev costs associated with them putting the motor into other platforms. It's going into the current gen Challenger, and Charger. The didn't re-engineer those platforms from the ground up to put the HC into them...

I'd love to see a HCJC, and I would order one whether it was this gen or next the day it was available. I'd rather not pay close to 90k for it though, but I'm guessing it is going to be pushing that regardless of generation (if they even do it).

Re: New 2015 Challenger Hellcat

One very significant difference, we have AWD. It's a lot more complex to get the AWD system to handle repetitive launches and beatings. The SRT had a budget when it was made. Now you have a significant budget on top of the original budget. A lot more cost effective if you have it all done on one budget.
