Thanks for the vid. Probably something to do with many cold starts and high revs. Either. Way that sounds nasty

Re: New 2015 Challenger Hellcat

ZO6 hands down for me honestly.

I recently sold my Jeep and picked up a 2013 ZL1 and did a few things (O.K. a Lot) to it dyno'd out at 635HP on a Mustang dyno and should be almost 750HP on a Dynojet (Most people look at Dynojet numbers because they read higher) And in all honestly the LS motor is no joke this car is simply scary as hell.

I wonder today why I kept the jeep for so long because these LS's Can be tuned and modified the day they are released no waiting around to be modified. I have 5k on the Odomiter and it's 6 mo old all tuned out so will this be the sam ol same ol for Chryo or Fiat locked out of the Hellcat feel sorry for these new buyers and I'm sure they will say it has 600HP wait until they throw it on a dyno and it makes 480HP and they are getting beat by everything because they don't have tuning.

I'm going to look at the new ZO6 when they release the challenger is just the wrong platform for me and as someone mentioned already. IMO the car is huge and just not what I would ever call a super car they drive like boats and it seems they just don't have the feel of a Mustng,Camaro,Vett or Viper's smaller packages so IMO for the money their are better choices. I mean look at the new Z28 chevy just put out Fiat really needs to just create a new car all together should have made the charger their choice with the new design they could have made it look like anything instead it looks like a big Dart.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. I am definitely becoming disenchanted with Chrysler. This whole no tuning thing is really pissing me off on my 14. But let's not compare a Corvette to a Challenger. That Z06 is a beautiful car and I am not even a fan of Corvettes. Beautiful styling, power, handling and a high end interior is all there I am sure. There is no way that car will be in the same price range as that Hellcat Challenger. Muscle cars, sports cars, high end exotics and everything in between are all very different. I love fast cars and great handling cars but in reality I'm not going to be hitting any hair pins at high speeds any time soon. I like the Hellcat, but I will never spend 60k or more on a Chrysler product ever again. No forged internals on the 6.4 (crank maybe?) from a performance division? It's a bit limiting IMO. Just my 2 cents.

Re: New 2015 Challenger Hellcat

I would agree as well - Chrysler was late to the game with the HP wars and track focused wars to keep up with Chevy and Ford. Sure you can dump a bunch of HP in a car - but if the foundation is not setup for the power, the whole package suffers.

Chevy built the ZL1 - and it will keep lock step with a Porsche 911 GT3. That is bang for the buck. The Challenger was a cool retro throwback car - it is not in any stretch of the imagination a performance oriented car for the money.

I am getting ready to unload my Jeep. No backing now from Chrysler and not real happy with it. There are so many more options out there for the money.

THIS.

In other news, there seems to be some confusion of late as to what constitutes a "supercar". The issue drives me crazy. When I was into I remember guys with a 60' cabin cruiser talking about their "yacht". Sorry dude, under 100ft = NOT A YACHT. period.

What I posted on the other site, so get educated people:

"I object to the term "Hypercar". Some elementary school kid made it up and an overzealous marketing guru promoted it. The problem is entry level rich people can't afford real Supercars so they decided to promote their exotics and sports cars as "supercars". I've even thought about when I get into big money in my late 40s and I go to buy a Koenigsegg (one of the only supercars I can fit into) I will tell Mr. Koenigsegg he must renounce the "hypercar" term or I will not buy one

If the CLK GTR and Porsche 911GT1 are supercars, which they are, then these road going 918s, Koenigseggs, etc. are no better.

Here is how it goes. To be an exotic your production has to be low, you can't share significant body panels with a lesser car, and your shape must be unique and eye catching.
Supercars must have extremely limited production, not anyone can purchase, very low, very wide, incredibly impractical. Odds of you ever seeing one in your life on the road are slim to none.

Sports Cars: All Corvettes, GTR, All Porsche 911 variants, SL Mercedes, etc.

Exotics: Aston Martins, Viper, Lotus, 458, 599GTO, F12, Gallardo, Aventador, Murcielago, SLS Mercedes, Rossion, Ford GT etc.

Supercars: 911 GT1, CLK GTR, Carrera GT (entry level), 918, 959, SSC Ultimate Aero, all Koenigsegg, all Pagani, F40-F50-Enzo-LaFerrari, etc.

Source: Me, a car aficionado and fanatic long before the internet. I've been a Koenigsegg and Pagani fan since their first model."

Re: New 2015 Challenger Hellcat

I'm getting a Hellcat, no question.

I pondered the Z06 but it's a different car, made for different things. I don't live near a track, if I did.. I'd consider the Z06 more but then again.. I value having room for my wife and my dog, or if we have a child etc. Sure, we will also own the Jeep SRT but why not have options?

Z06 is like the GT-R - amazing car but very purpose built.

Now if anyone wants to tell me the ZL-1 will out duel the Hellcat, I'll take that challenge all day long. Hellcat will pwn the ZL-1 left, right, center. ZL-1 is an SS with a few tweaks.

No thanks. GM in general right now.. no thanks.

The Z28 is amazing. The Z06 is amazing and hell, the C7 is amazing but buy the car that is what you need. If you're trying to buy the 'best' car.. shoudn't the next question you ask yourself be - what do I need?

Hellcat will be it.

Re: New 2015 Challenger Hellcat

The z06 will be in the 100k+ price range. It will have track capability in the supercar range stock. In terms of bang for the buck nothing out there outperforms it.

The challenger is the only muscle car left in the modern era and I love it for that. Unfortunately unless srt releases full tuning it's not a good option for the people who would normally be interested in a car like that. Stock it will be great if it comes around $60k.

There is imo nothing exotic or hypercar-like about either of these options. To me a hypercar must do 220+ mph stock and have lap times comerable to f1 on track. Exotic means superlimited production numbers, no more than 50/year.
