After I sealed the box to the base my temps dropped 3* to 4* on average & after rapping the bottom half of the intake tube it dropped an additional 4*, that's were I saw the biggest gains, putting the temps were I was with the stock box. I wrapped the bottom & sides of the the intake box that faces the engine plus the side of the stock base were the intake box sits on but didn't get any lower intake temps, what I did gain was getting the temps to come down faster after exiting slow city driving & idling at traffic lights the temps crepted up a lot slower than with out the wrap & a lot slower rise compared to the stock box.

I can't even imagine what a metal tube would do in these circumstances to boot not even an enclosed box. Not to mention this is pretty heavy plastic piping and box I will relay the info.

Apprecuiate the feedback!!!

@CLStech that's not really that dead of the intake where the IAT sits as the filters with is open to that area.
We have spoken about this and I was tols airflow is not suffering per AFE's tests.

Honestly they are quite confused as to why th IAT may be higher on some than others and as mentoned may do a seal on the bottom of the box. Seeing the two test Jeeps both did not see what some are seeing may be humidity is playing a roll who knows?

More tests and dyno's in other parts of the country should really tell us what if anyting is going on time will tell.

Understood Chad, just thoughts. Thanks for reaching out to Afe.

@G-IV Pilot I'll be wrapping the engine facing sides as well in the near future, thanks for the feedback

Yes agreed and much appreciated

It's good to think of things unfortunately for me everything I have brought up to them has been tested already LOL.

They have some very talented engineers over their not to mention multiple.

Their is a specific engineer with AFE now that developed some of my favorite products in the auto industry! This is one of the reasons I got behind AFE with this intake. We knew as soon as we saw the data behind this intake what had gone into it in the early stages that gave us full confidence. I believed and still do believe it would end up doing what the previous Gens AFE did back in the day. I have mentioned here before and will again, In no time at all without question this will be the go to intake for the 2012+ jeeps.

Should i install mine or wait till this issue is corrected?
Is it a major concern these higher temps for everyday driving?
Thanks

The higher temps are not bad at all, just higher than expected. Not a big deal at all...

Thermo-Tec 13500, I bought the 12" x 24" piece. I think DEI also makes something similar.

Before you wrap it clean & degrease it well otherwise it will not stick, acetone worked great for me.

will do, a very low heat gun warmup or "sunning it" should help perfect the bond as well.
