Temps make a big difference with these as we've all seen... It will be hard to get a true comparison unless the conditions are the same. Depending on how in depth the install is, maybe run each at the track next time you go.

Ya, from my drag days there's a formula on it, something like 1% HP gain per 10deg f temp drop, with pressure and humidity constant, only temp diff...its why its easy to bust your bracket cuz u run and set it early and race time u have to lay into it more (hotter in day) to get same power, lay in too much, bust your bracket.

So, 4.X extra HP dropped u a tenth...probably that plus the micro launch diffs that always exist even with a launch control, etc.

I understand what your saying but why am I getting these numbers when they are claiming 35 hp gains. A tenth of a second are big numbers when it comes down to 1/4 mile times.

Re: New aFe intake option coming...

You don't have to do anything the temps for the testing from my conversation with AFE this week was the same as OEM.

The dyno sheet just made 24hp done by someone other than AFE that's a good #

I think it's turned into a soap opera because it's a conversation piece here to be honest.

The seal on the bottom may be shipped out by AFE and by my request trust me they said it will do noting since it already tests like the oem temps sitting around run after run.

Other than that the temps are no worse than oem and made 24hp. The claim of 30 something HP was taken back and redone by AFE this is why their was a huge holdup in the first place the second test fit for the release version did not dyno what the first jeep did so some changes where made.

I've mentioned repeatedly what they made from the sheets I saw with my own eyes with the notes on em.

Someone please show me an intake making more than 24hp with lower temps.

Lake is right humidity air temp etc has a lot to do with it even AFE admits this lets just enjoy the added 24hp and be done no need to wrap or seal anything.
I can almost guarantee if someone up north dyno's in cold weather you will see more than even 24hp so is it the 30hp again may be may be not all I know is everyone is making wayyyy more than need be.

AFE will be here to comment hopefully very soon.

Re: New aFe intake option coming...

Like I said, it is hard to compare on different days without knowing all of the variables. Weather makes a difference as we all know, and that difference is huge when it comes to these Jeeps. When I was stock I would run 0-60 in 4.8-9 when it was 90*, 4.5 when it was 50* and a 4.0-1 when it was 30*. I can't imagine what those changes would have equated to if I ever took it to the track on the 1/4 time - but certainly well over a tenth.

G-IV Pilot showed a dyno of a 24hp increase, I think that is pretty good proof the intake is decent. There are just too many variables that can come into play with a specific track time.

Re: New aFe intake option coming...

On the Fla Turnpike running 75mph no cars close to me, not always do i get a 4* split i will however always have a 5* split & if i'm with or following other cars doing 75mph NASCAR style it will sometimes show a 6* split.

Re: New aFe intake option coming...

Ok
I haven't read through all 26 pages of this thread but are you guys really disappointed with a 24hp gain for an intake bolt on that cost 400$? Really?

24hp for 400$ seems like a crazy hp/$ return?

I don't have an srt but I've spent several thousands of dollars to get hp gains on my v6 wk2 so that it now can run with any srt ..but I've also tried cai's and seen 5-10hp gains from the same 400$ investment

From the outside looking in here I think if you're complaining about a 24hp gain on a 400$ investment you really need to find a different hobby

Just my .02$

All the complaints were before the 24hp dunno sheet. I think we are good now. Just going to try to improve the iat temps from here.
