Re: New aFe intake option coming...

Previously ran 4.1 in 20 degree temps.

Set a new record of 3.9 seconds this morning (power brake, not launch control) - was 25 degrees out, humid, and my IAT was 30 degrees at sustained speeds. Seems like a nice boost between the intake and custom tune.

Ok, now that it's the dead of summer what's your temperature above ambient? Is it still worth purchasing? After owning it would you purchase it again?

Re: New aFe intake option coming...

Temps above ambient are still solid - optimal IAT above ambient should never really change just because the ambient temps go up. Temperature changes scale linearly whether they increase or decrease. Yes, I still believe it is worth purchasing, simply because the stock airbox is too small. When I get a chance, I need to do more 0-60 runs, but the Jeep has changed a lot since I got the 3.9 - I may have worse low end torque at the benefit of higher peak TQ/HP now due to having redone the entire exhaust.

Re: New aFe intake option coming...

That's what I was wondering if you still had that 6 degree differential when ambient was around 40 degrees versus 90. I believe you modded your box with a wrap also. Thanks for the info!

I did the wrap and also used dense window foam seal adhesive strip at the bottom of the box intake mouth as it didn't sit flush with the plastic heat shield in the engine bay. Not sure if any of this made a difference, but for $30~ in materials, I'm not losing any sleep over doing it. I'm sure it helps at least a little bit.

Re: New aFe intake option coming...

Just purchased this through autoanything.com for $400 with free shipping. Usually $445. In addition I also get a AFE Momentum mail in rebate of $50.

Solid score I feel even though $350 is still a boat load of $$. But in regards to HP it's cheap, LOL.

Re: New aFe intake option coming...

Hey guys,

I'm new to the srt world. Just picked up my 2014 three weeks ago, and ready to start the build! I followed all 28 pages of this CAI "drama", and think I will be happy with my purchase. As the above poster stated... autoanything has this onsale. I just paid $391.60 with free shipping/no tax, plus the $50 rebate.

Thanks for the heads up on this one!!!

Also, blackops will more than likely get my next paycheck lol
