Question New Jeep SRT possible rust?!?

Hello to All,
I am a new user here, and i just bought a 2016 white SRT. I was looking at the engine bay and noticed some brown colored metal. It looks similar to rust, and when i rub my fingers on it i come back with a brown type of dusty residue. Looking for help from you guys - does anyone know if this is normal or is something wrong. Any insights will be appreciated.

Re: New Jeep SRT possible rust?!?

Yeah, as RP said. Notice the white all over your aluminum...dried winter salt corroding the aluminum. That's just unpainted components getting their rust patina on....that surface rust layer protects the main metal....

It's completely normal! There is mopar history behind story. My mechanic started to educate me but I had to answer my cell. I failed his class lol

Yeah that's just a bit of surface rust and normal. Now if the paint on your hood starts bubbling with corrosion like some are seeing that is a different story.
