Hey everyone,

Just wanted to say hello. A little bit about me and my involvement with Jeeps. I got in a bad motorcycle accident that left me disabled late last year so I had to sell my Corvette. When I was able to drive again I needed an SUV so I chose to go with a "fast" SRT8 jeep since I was used to a fast vehicle. I purchased a 2010 SRT8 from CarMax and loved everything about it. However buyers remorse settled in with gas consumption being excessive and the fact that I put down a ton of money and still had an expensive payment. So I exercised the 5 day return policy and ended up getting a 2011 Jeep Liberty. Fast forward 3 months to today......I absolutely HATE the gutless V6 and yearn for an SRT8 again. At this point I don't care about a bigger payment and paying for more gas. I can afford it so I figure I might as well be happy.

Question to members, should I go with a 2012 or get the new 2014 with the 8 speed? Also, can someone from AZ point out a good dealership that'll give me a good deal and good service? I went to Earnhardt dodge today and looked at a 2014 but got a really bad impression from the sales people and I would rather not give them my money.

I was going to get a 2012-13 model but decided to wait for the 2014. I absolutely love it. I feel like it is a pretty decent upgrade from the 12-13 SRTs. The inside feels more worth the money now than the 12-13s. I feel like the 2014 is damn near perfected. Good luck and 2012-2014 are all amazing vehicles. Big upgrade from the 2010s

Sorry to hear about the accident, but good to hear you are back in the driver's seat! I live in AZ, and have driven both. I got the 2012 with 7k miles on it and traded it for the 2014. I really think the 8-speed is worth it. There is a noticeable lack of a gear where you need it in the 5-soeed when you want to punch the throttle somewhere around 40 mph. It wont downshift, and the gear is too high to get any real acceleration. To be honest, that was my only gripe with the car. Also, the 8-speed should thoretically get better mileage, and has eco-mode.

As far as dealers, I bought both from Airpark Dodge. Tell Fred Nielsen I sent you and you want the same price. They have been great with service, and Fred actually went out of his way to walk me over and introduce me to his favorite service guy when I bought the 2014.

Thanks TJ, I'm doing a lot better! I like the idea of an 8 speed but there being a 16k difference kind of sets me toward the 12. What's the same price? The 2014 at Earnhardt was listed at 68k

Re: New Member From AZ

I'm in Gilbert, AZ. I too, received a less than pleasant experience from Earnhardt Jeep trying to purchase a 2014. They could be no less interested in taking my money.

I went with Chapman in Scottsdale and was treated excellent by Patrick Hofer. The vehicle was on its way to the dealership so I had about a week wait, but I was able to do all negotiating by email/phone. I was able to get invoice by just asking. Maybe I even left some on the table, but I was happy with the price. Patrick even called the rail yard numerous times the day it arrived, so he could personally go get the vehicle and I could take delivery immediately. I only spent about an hour at the dealership to make the purchase. (even with trading my '11 Overland, also giving me more than I expected without asking)
Tell him Brandon Ivy with the 14 black SRT sent you, he will remember.

You will love the grin on your face every time you drive this beast. Good luck. If you are in the east valley look for us in the 14 Brilliant Black with Vapor wheels. I have yet to see another 2014 SRT out here yet.

Mine was $250 under invoice... the final price will depend on your options. If you are interested in a 2012, call Fred at airpark. They may still have my black one for sale w/ 14,700 miles on it. It is in great condition.
