Hey all. I purchased two weeks ago a 16 white SRT. I moved up from a 14 Altitude and currently have a 14 Viper TA. This jeep is REALLY nice. At first I was a bit underwhelmed but I think it has to do with having a stage II heads/cam Viper. However after the first 500 miles or so I noticed the exhaust opened up a little more and it felt overall more responsive.
I really liked the older front end and with geting a better discount I decided to pass on the 17. The Track Hawk I am sure will be awesome but I really wanted a proven engine that's been pretty worked out and just like NA HP better. Plus, this Jeep really pushed my budget and I wouldn't have been able to go any higher on the Track Hawk.
I have a few questions. I had a 15 Viper GT prior to my TA and it had the 18 speaker HK system and it THUMPED. I figured that the Jeep with more room for sound to resonate would hit even harder and I find it to be really weak. Some songs sound great but overall it seems like it's not working properly. I noticed on the challenger forums many people complain about it but it appears there were more uconnect isssues. I registered my uconnect and see no driver updates. The dealer thinks it is fine so I am not sure how to proceed. It doesn't sound bad, every speaker is working but it just sounds "OK."
Regarding doing an intake/tune, will the tune void the warranty? I am on a voided warranty with my heads/cam TA so I do want to keep a full intact warranty on this. If it's "hit or miss" regarding the dealer and honoring warranty with a tune I suppose I will stay stock so i would love input on that. I was looking at the GThaus catback for a better sounding exhaust but have read the backpressure isn't enough to increase HP and possible loss of HP could occur so I am hesitant to switch out even the exhaust.
Otherwise this vehicle is excellent. I love the overall fit and finish of the interior and the exterior really gets a lot of compliments. It's a nice mix of being understated while still having an aggressive and cohesive design. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics but here are a few quick shots.
