New SRT - Request No Prep from Dealer?

Has anyone purchased a new SRT that they ordered and instructed the dealer to do no prep work? I am picking up my SRT in TX and driving it 12 hours back to AL. I don't mind removing all the plastic protective covers, etc at my in-laws before we hit the road. I don't want to dealer to do anything to the paint and most definitely don't want them to drill for the front plate. Are dealers willing to forgo the prep or will they just call you crazy? Are there certain prep items they have to perform? I would assume they aren't just going to hand you a vehicle off the truck without some basic required checks.

Re: New SRT - Request No Prep from Dealer?

I received mine with all plastics still on it. Both interior and exterior. I told them when I placed the order that if they were removed and/or detailed when I came to pick it up I was not taking delivery of it. They did look at me like I was crazy but I am when it comes to my cars so it's all good. They do have to do some safety and mechanical checks but that is all.

I've found most dealers will do as they're asked by a customer taking delivery.

I agree the dealer should do the mechanical & safety checks. My only concern with leaving the plastic on is that there could be cosmetic issues with the paint or seats that are hidden by the plastic & that should be resolved before you take delivery (& pay for the vehicle).

Completely agree. I had them remove the plastic so I could inspect the car, but no other prep work as far as paint or washing, etc. definitely a good idea to have them take off the plastic. If there is an issue after you leave you could have a darn hard time getting it covered.

Re: New SRT - Request No Prep from Dealer?

I see your points about the plastic. I will tell them to do all PDI prep, minus any washing and don't attach the front plate.

i did the same thing...the only thing i told them to do was just inspect the car... everything else i did myself that night... definitely dont let them detail it because i have heard some horror stories!
