Re: New to Jeeps, seeking advice on GC SRT

Thank you, that will be good to know.

I just have to finalize a couple of options and I believe I'll be ordering the car next week. Hopefully all goes well!

Now I just have to decide which wheels and whether I want the CD player and engine block heater.

Re: New to Jeeps, seeking advice on GC SRT

So, it looks as though I waited too long. The dealer just called me to tell me that the order banks are closed. It looks as though I can't order my Jeep until the order banks open.

I found one similar to to what I'm looking for on a lot about 10 hours from me. I may need to take a drive....

Any reason to wait for the 16? Any ideas of how the price will change?

Thank you again!

Re: New to Jeeps, seeking advice on GC SRT

The test drive finally happened. I put about 20 miles on the car and spent another 20 minutes with the car. This is a vehicle unlike anything else I have ever encountered.

I'm not a huge fan of all the technology as I'm fairly sure I won't use even half of it, and I can see it taking a while getting use to the rest of it. However, one doesn't buy an SRT Jeep to use yelp to find a cobbler along his navigation path for some spur of the moment shoe refinishing.

I had a little driving time on local roads and a highway with moderate congestion. The salesman was goading me on to really see what the car could do, but I just couldn't do it. People my age have a hard enough time getting respect at a dealer that being stupid would have done my peers a disservice. The car certainly capably passes anything. It seems to remain extremely flat and stable upon acceleration as well as cornering.

The only two things I really didn't like were the shifter (it'll take some getting used to since it seems to always realign itself in the center position) and that when taking my foot off the gas and slightly applying the brakes the car would down shift a good deal, seemingly using the engine as a brake.

All other things aside, this will be my next vehicle and I'm eager to see what it will be like to drive my own SRT.

I hope this thread is helpful to anyone else looking as I was. Now, there are just a few final things to figure out before the SRT ends up in my driveway, but I can assure you, it will.

Thanks!

At this point should buyers be aiming for invoice pricing even when ordering a 2016?

Re: New to Jeeps, seeking advice on GC SRT

I'm paying well under for a 2015 (when I finally pick it up) but I have to drive about 7 hours west of here. A dealer in Upstate, NY was willing to do invoice on a 16 and one in NH was willing to do a little under invoice. However, they may have just been willing to do this to try to get me into a car at the end of the month.

7 hours west puts you fairly near me. Can you recommend a dealer and are you willing to disclose details of the deal?

Re: New to Jeeps, seeking advice on GC SRT

I'm at 61 miles so far and trying to break it in as per the manual. I had her reshod with Yokohamas this morning as soon as she came off the trailer. I see what you like about these! I'm still trying to get used to the shift pattern and all of the accoutrements, but I'm getting used to the car way faster than I thought. After spending the better part of the last three days in a car to get it and bring it home, I can't believe how much I wanted to get behind the wheel.

Is there a way to determine the build date of my car? It looks like my car was on the dealer show room from about September of last year until Friday.
