Then you would not get a sunroof at all just like you want. I don't like sunroofs either. Everytime I try to use mine or even just have the shade open, I close it very quickly. Hate the glare.

Makes no sense at all. You are missing the point. The problem is that their factory-option makes it impossible to order the pano-roof. There is absolutely NO reason why they are doing that and not offering a headrest- or center-console solution as factory-option instead that would still make it possible to get the pano.

So why is Jeep structuring options in such a way that the selection of one option excludes the other? If you think they are doing it right, this statement is a bit strange, isn't it?

They are making money. I didn't say they are doing it in the best interest of US.. It is called Product Management.

Just watch, 90% of the vehicles that show up at Dealers will be loaded. People will still buy them because they don't care, they have to have them even if they are optioned up. They are catering too much to the rich old timer tech dude and not enough to the tech dudes who know how to save a buck and still get something awesome or else make it more awesome on our own for a fraction of the price...

Let's say the currently expected MSRP on the SRT8 is accurate. A fully loaded one would be about $51K. If they would have placed the DVD-Player above the center-console, they could sell it for $53K. That's bad product management.

They are making money - but they could be making more..

It is not an easy decision between the DVD-Player and the pano-roof and the problem is that both options are quite expensive. And the fact that it is "either/or" is neither in our best interest nor in Jeep's.

Maybe they want Mopar and/or Dealers to do this on their own (they need to make money too and they don't always make it off the vehicles). They likely will have an option, or will soon, for rear-seat console-mounted DVD, or even headrests perhaps.

Well that settles it for me.... no 2012 SRT8. They really need to get their crap together as far as options and pricing. There is no reason for that kind of stupidity.

It was easy for me No Pano and no rear DVD. I'm cool with that. I wish I could get the Pano but I saved some money and still get an SRT. How cool is that?

Re: No pano or rear DVD = no sunroof at all?

BuckeyeR/T - Ditto! I will hack my mygig RHB and also put in some tablet headrest mounts for nice 10" widescreen viewing pleasure... As for the sunroof, well, I use mine about 1% of the time as it is, so I will find ways around that without one..

Re: No pano or rear DVD = no sunroof at all?

With 3 boys - at ages 4, 5 and 1....the rear DVD is a must for sanity on long trips...

I will say that my LR4 has the headrest DVD's....wish Jeep had the same thing...saves room and not sure what some hug screen hanging down in the middle of the roof in the back will do to visibility.

Headrest's are just smarter all around.

Jeep - are you listening....? 2013...DVD headrests, Pano Roof...and I am in.

Re: No pano or rear DVD = no sunroof at all?

Quite a few companies make iPad "holders" for rear headrests. Why not go that route and have an iPad to boot? The LR4 is also 15K more money

Re: No pano or rear DVD = no sunroof at all?

IF I need any rear entertainment, then the Tablet route is far more practical and cheaper.
For the option of the rear DVD here in Oz ($3250) you can buy several ipad2's and headrest mounts. They can also use it for gaming and surfing.

Rather not have a "holder"....but to each his own.

Also my 2010 HSE LR4 fully loaded with headrest DVD's came in at $54,200...fully loaded. That is right at Jeep SRT8 pricing with options.

Where is the $15k coming from...?
