P0305 cyl 5 misfire )=

Coming home from work, at a light felt a weird shutter in the motor. Light turned green went to accelerate and that was it, CEL came on P0305 cylinder 5 misfire came up on the dash. Limped the truck home , was only a short distance away. Kept my eye on oil presure gauge and temp gauge which was fine. By time I got home engine was sputtering and making a loud ticking noise.

Flatbed came early this morning and off she went to dealer. Service advisor seemed cool also spoke to the tech who was taking the truck. After an hour the advisor called with not such great news. Motor has to be opened, definitely lifters and whatever else they find., won't know exactly how, why and what else is wrong until further inspection. Looking at least middle of next week for an update.

2015 with 3600 miles only. Had a nice weekend planned, guess I'll be riding in my Chrysler 200 free rental.

Anyone know if I should call that SRT hotline to make them aware of my situation??
EDIT : didn't see the "trouble shooting section" mods feel free to move this thread if needed. Thanks.

Dude that sucks a big one! Especially with a brand new ride.

I would give the dealership a chance to look at it, and then give SRT a call. At this point SRT wouldn't be able to do much...at least I don't think.

Best of luck though. Hopefully it is nothing major.

Mike

Yea so far things are going as good as it can can be i guess. If i run into problems and start getting a run around then I will notify the SRT hot line. Just have to wait and see what's up /=

Oh man. That sucks. Hope nothing major and they can fix it fast. I would call srt hotline and let them know. Just tell them so far service techs are handling but u just wanted to make them aware. We all paid a lot of money for this vehicle and deserve top level attention when things go wrong.

stopped by the dealer today. Found out the culprit for my cyl 5 misfire code. A piece broken off this shaft where the rocker arm and lifters attach to or push up against, not sure really. Tech said he'd never seen this piece break like this before. The new shaft is in just waiting on the lifters. Here is a pic.

Did the mechanic verify that the valve is not bent? Any other damage?

If I saw that I'd dig much deeper....that thing didn't break for no reason. Manufacturing defect on that would be the last thing I would suspect...something south of that rocker caused the issue IMO.

I doubt this is the last you've heard of cylinder #5 on that motor.....

From the sound of of the motor when it first came in he thinks it's nothing lower but it will be presure tested once it's back together. When I do get it back I'll be sure to test it also (=

Picking it up tomorrow morning. They said it's good to go.
I will be asking for an extended warranty.
