Parking Lot Close Call ... I Think

While looking for a parking space today, I ended up behind another space hunter. Unfortunately I should have been a little more vigilant. I was following about 15' -20' behind this lady as we were creeping down the aisle. All of a sudden seeing a car getting ready to pull out, she slams on her brakes and throws it into reverse without checking behind.

Now let me say at this time, when I first purchased my 2014 it took me a little adjustment time to get used to the "european style" electronic shifter. But I've gotten quite comfortable with it. Well, that changed when I saw this Chevy backing up at a quick pace. I was trying to quickly find reverse while honking. I was rather disappointed in my ability to settle in reverse.

Anyway, she finally stopped at a way too close distance. I couldn't believe my luck that she didn't hit me. I mean I felt no bump. Well she quickly pulled into her parking space and walking towards me says, "Well I guess there's no damage".

Walking along side of this commotion a couple watched the whole episode. The guy walks in front of my SRT and picks up off the ground what turns out to be the bezel that surrounds the radar sensor under the grill and shows it to me. It took me a moment to realize what it was. It was undamaged and it snapped back into place.

After close examination, I could not discern any damage to the ground effects or paint in the front. Apparently we did make contact, but the "flexible give" to the front end (and maybe the Chevy rear) prevented any damage. I'm thinking the distortion flex caused the bezel to pop out. I couldn't see any damage to the radar sensor either and ACC functions were unaffected.

I've noticed when previously washing Lola how "flexible" the ground effects were, thinking it was a build quality thing. Take that Consumer Reports.

Parking Lot Close Call ... I Think

That's almost exactly what happened to me. But in my case i was hit because i wound up in neutral while in that 2-3 seconds of panic and lying on the horn. I was so freaking mad that i could not get into reverse!! Anyways the lady who bumped me paid me cash a few days later once i showed her estimates from a few body shops.

Turns out I was able to buff out 95% of the scratches/marks with my DA polisher. All I really need is a new fog light bezel and I'm all set.

That's the problem with the shifter ...whenever you are hurrying it ends up in the wrong gear....cant wait to see what the recall fix does to it ....

Glad to hear there was no damage.

Seriously, just how bad did she want that parking spot?
She could have backed over a pedestrian.

Not sure the recall is going to help the hiting R acurately in a panic situation but would be nice if it did. I think their focus is going to be on the people that cant seem to get it in park before exiting thd vehicle. Who knows though 4th quarter 2016 seems like a long time to get some software with loader chimes and an interlock out give. Thd urgency, so maybe they have additional plans.

Looks like FCA agrees, they now say Jul/Aug for recall fix availability.

FCA put out an advisory to dealers on 5/24...

"The timing to develop the software updates required to remedy this situation has been accelerated. FCA now anticipates having the software updates required to remedy the above vehicles no later than July/August of 2016.

Service instructions will be released as soon as the necessary software updates are validated and become available.

All customers with involved vehicles will be mailed a second owner letter asking them to bring their vehicle in for these software updates.
"

It's the first link in this post:

Freeze on new 2015 sales

My acc bezel is missing also. No signs of damage. Do they pop off too easy? Anyone know the part #?
