Question Planning to replace all interior lights with LEDs

Anyone replaced all 8 interior light bulbs to LEDs? Can you share what type of bulbs did you install and how are they holding up?

A garage here offered to install T10 bulbs, thoughts?

It's a fairly simple install and there are several vendors that sell kits for the GC, providing the right type of bulbs for the different lights throughout the cabin. I replaced all of mine a couple weeks ago and the only ones that are a bit difficult are the two on the tailgate hatch which require you to remove the entire rear panel to get to the bulbs, with the right tools though it's a 15 minute job. Just so you know there are two bulbs in each of the front overhead lights, one is easily replaceable, the other however is soldered in and you would need to remove the panel and have someone solder on a new LED for it to color match the rest of the bulbs.

Here's is where I got my kit, I didn't do vanity or glovebox bulbs but they include a tool kit which helped a lot

Thank you so much for the link!! Can you explain more about this LED that needs to be soldered? It's not mentioned in that installation tutorial video. Is this in the center just above your head?

Re: Planning to replace all interior lights with LEDs

Went to the garage today and they said all bulbs can be replaced except that soldered one, they don't want to play around with it. I guess it's a hectic job anyway. I'd get the kit and do it all myself but I wouldn't like the I consistency of yellow and blue lights in the overhead panel.

I too ordered from the same company as La Roja. Should be here in a week or less. I'll snap some pics for you if he doesn't beat me to it.

Sounds good!!

I emailed precision LEDS to ask them about the overhead light and the whole soldering thing and they responded with :

A different install is not required. No soldering necessary. All of our packages are plug and play

Weird..

The front overhead courtesy lights in that kit only includes 2 LED bulbs. They are not going to get involved trying to explain how to unsolder and resolder the 2 LED diodes. That's why their kit only has the 2 LED bulbs for that area.

My last 3 vehicles (R/T Charger, SRT Charger, SRT GC) have had the same exact overlight console/lighting configuration. Replace the filament bulbs with some kind of 194 LED. Cover up the factory yellow LED with black electrical tape - do not mess around with soldering, because that's ridiculous to tackle for something so stupidly small. Zero light shines through with a few pieces of tape over the LED, and with the new LEDs you install (if good quality) put out way more light than factory anyway - problem solved.
