CLStech, since you've been running the system since June of 2014 what do you feel are the pros&icons to this mod and do you feel it's worth the money? Also in your oh Pinyan would you get the front camera as well?

The RAX is awesome. Got the silver. I'm still pending install on the front cam. Video input works great with my iPod.

I am not running the front cam currently. From description I feel like I would get annoyed with the front cam coming on below 8mph all the time... BUT this auto on feature can be turned off and after some use I would probably actually like it.

Only con so far, that is not RAX fault, is that you cannot use the rear view camera above 18mph (+/-). This is because power is cut to the factory rear view camera by the canbus system. Separate from the uconnect... Would be nice to keep it on for towing applications. Not a deal breaker by any means.

It is definitely worth the money. Even just for the Bronze package, being able to use the navigation or media search functions while in motion is surprisingly useful. With the silver version, being able to add in aux video is great as well. At these prices for a 99% software modification it's a no brainer.

CLStech, Good looking out thanks for nice report an videos. I'm 90% in with the silver kit but what about iphones do they pair up with this RAX Jailbreak?

Should I be looking at the "sliver plus kit"?

The Rax jailbreak silver/gold is going to allow input of any composite video signal. It is up to you how you get the signal to composite. That could be a lightning to HDMI cable then into a HDMI to composite converter for example...

You could find a device that uses airplay to make it wireless as well. Some guys are running the Apple TV in there...

CLSTech,

What hardware are you using to have your phone stream wirelessly? And is that going into the "cargo cam" input?

thx

Re: Rax Jailbreak installed with extra cameras

You could, behind the head unit. I'm thinking to go back in thee and re arrange my hdmi to av converter back there. Only thing is I would need a longer mini usb cable to power the converter.

Re: Rax Jailbreak installed with extra cameras

What would be nice is a rax system with integrated front/rear looping video recording. Both cameras at the same time. Possible (within reason)?

Sorry I have to bring this thread back up but there are a few more questions I need to ask.

What work is required to install the silver kit?

Install is very easy. Download files they provide you with on a flash drive. Radio trim is just clipped in place...then radio removes with 4 screws...unplug factory harness from radio...plug in supplied harness into radio then factory harness into the other end of the supplied harness. Reinstall radio and trim. Load files off USB stick (there is a detailed YouTube video). Enable features you want and your done. Silver kit also comes with a seperate camera. I used it as a front cam. Install is also fairly easy but a little time consuming to run wires. Yellow video cable supplied gets run back to radio harness. I extended the ground and power wires. Grounded the black wire to factory ground block on fender and red power wire to a fuse tap in the fuse box. I also bought an additional camera that I ran to my cargo area.
