Real World MPG

Hey All,

I've now got 2,000km (1250miles) on my truck and am realizing a little over 30L/100km (7.84mpg) in all city driving. In fact, the last quarter tank is averaging 37L/100km (6.35mpg).

A friend who has the same truck is surprised at my mileage.

What are you all seeing?

Re: Real World MPG

Yeah. I'm only getting 260km (161miles) per tank.

I'm driving in the regular mode (not sport) and while I give her now and again, I'm in a dense city and am by no means ripping around like an idiot.

Was using a 91 Octane gas with no Ethanol (Shell V-Power) and switched to a 94 Octane for my last tank. Mileage seems to have gotten worse, although it's been snowing so the tires spinning out of parking spots, etc may be playing with those numbers.

Any clue what could improve the mileage?

I was getting about 11.5mpg when I was breaking it in and ensured I never took it over 2,000rpm, but that's not realistic for daily driving.

Re: Real World MPG

I saw another post here of a guy having poor gas mileage as well. Something is definitely not right.

Re: Real World MPG

those numbers are very low, I get about 14mpg city, 18-19 highway. either stop drag racing at every light or like everyone else is saying something is wrong.

Re: Real World MPG

My avg on my last tank was 9.9mpg. All city. Every stoplight is an opportunity when I drive.

I've seen as high as 19mpg hwy on a long trip in eco mode.

What we should all really be measuring is 'smiles per gallon'....I'm thinking I'm in the high 50s there.

Where are you located? Using the 94 octane might be the problem. Where I am at the 94 octane that we have contains lots of ethanol and it kills the mileage. I use 91 octane Shell V-power and have never had an issue.

U have intake n exhaust? My Avg is currently 10.7. I noticed it about two weeks ago so I have been resetting it every time I filled up and am still getting 10.6-10.8. I have Bwoody and Borla Atack.. With Zero tune, can that be the reason why am seeing such a low number?

I'm in Toronto.

I used Shell V-Power exclusively for the first 1700-1800km. I just did 1 tank of Ultra 94, as a friend swears by it with his SRT. I'll go back to V-Power, as my consumption has gone up since using Ultra 94 (which is what I had figured from the start and why I chose V-Power).

I used Ultra 94 on my bi-turbo S4 because it was tuned for min 93 octane, but I think the V-Power is better on naturally aspirated motors - and it's only a few blocks from my house.

Re: Real World MPG

When i had my 2012 bone stock intown was 13/14 on small freeway trips 20/21 at 65/75 mph with eco on and off at diff times. The longest trips i ever made with it was 150 miles round trip to and from the drag strip.
