I also replaced mine with the stockers for runflat protection. Also you dont get as much sway when cornering due to the stiffer sidewall. I posted a question a few months ago regarding runflat options without a reply. It seems when people go away from the pirellis, they go with non runflat options.

Because they are cheap.

Agreed I love the Pirelli on the track but on michigan roads you can tell the difference between a penny and quarter when you drive over one the yokos are very nice did a 100 miles highway run today and quiet and even with some hard on and off ramps they stuck I have a spare in the back so I am ok

I had run flats on a bmw and got two flats both times the tire split and I was stranded not a fan!

I don't think anyone who buys an SRT is cheap. It's about value, $2400 for a set of tires that only lasts 11,000 miles is not a good value.

My SRT came with a full size spare, So I have no need for run flat tires.

The run flats were incredibly uncomfortable. I replaced them at 7k since I bought 22s and they looked over half worn. I got the same tire in a 22 without the run flat and it's much improved ride. Maybe some people like the added protection since they bought really expensive wheels but I have the chrome reps. I'd like to keep my spine protected more than some knock off reps.

Re: Replacement tire comments requested.

I got 20k miles out of my runflats, now I need new tires as I'm almost out of thread. I definitely won't be getting runflats though, but when I search online there seem to be so many options but both Discount Tire and NTB have offered me only one option of tire.

By the way, I'm not sure some people recommending the general grabbers, make sure you're getting at least a W spec tire if you plan on doing high speed. V spec is good for ~150 mph and our cars can do that. I guess it's safe but the general's only good for 130 mph.

It seems like a bunch of tires got discontinued like the Toyos and the Yokos in our sizes for the stock rims.

a 20x10 full-size spare? Spider Monkeys or Goliaths? I measured the depth of the rear cargo and a 20x10 with a stock tire will not fit...where do you store it in the vehicle?

I picked up a nail about 1k miles ago and it saved my a$$...was able to drive 15 miles to the nearest open shop and they plugged it up and all is well. Very interested to know if those that get away from run flats have some form of spare or just fly solo and use roadside service?

Re: Replacement tire comments requested.

The "full size " spare is an 18" steel wheel with a Kumho tyre. It will only fit on the rear of the car. If you puncture a front wheel, you'll need to put the spare on the rear, then the rear you just removed goes on the front.

I drove with a punctured run flat for about 60miles over 2 days before I got it repaired. also note that if the run flat is punctured near the sidewall it shouldn't be repaired as it weakens the strength of the sidewall, which is how a run flat works lol.

My OEM Pirelli tires on my '14 SRT need to be replaced (at 11,000 mi), I am not pleased with them, nor do I want replace them with run flats. I was interested in the Yokohama Parada Spec-X, but I find out they are being discontinued in the P295s.

My local shop suggested Hankook Ventus ST RH06 or Falken Ziex S/TZ-05 as a replacement. I was hoping to get some feedback from the forum about these, either pro or con.
thanks!
I just put on a set of cooper discoverer AT3 265/60 R18 tires on my 2008 Grand Cherokee, so far I like the tires, however they rub a little on the fender well in the full lock position. I am working on a simple solution for the problem.

What size are your Toyo's? I took my Jeep in over the weekend and they wouldn't rotate them since "there is not much tread left"...I have 9800 miles

I just ordered new wheels and plan to get non-runflats. Please post the name and size of tires you wen with as replacements for the SRT (XXX/XXr20) and your thoughts/impressions. Thanks!
