Yes, it was close to home and he appeared before the judge via a ride in the back of a sheriffs car. lol. I have some inventive relatives.
Another cousin owns a sawmill and a home built water driven grist mill. Very "country" kind of guy. Self sufficient is an understatement. He decided to build and sell log cabin kits from his sawmill. I don't think I ever knew the exact payment arrangements but he sold and assembled a cabin for a lady and got half his money with the other half being due at some point at or after completion. The lady never paid the other half of the money she owed and started the hiding and not returning phone calls routine. My cousin got fed up and he and his son went and cut the cabin in half with chain saws and he hauled the unpaid for half of the cabin back to his sawmill. My father towed it with our dump truck. Well, another flabbergasted judge and more legal trouble resulted with the judge torn between chewing out the lady for nonpayment and being near speechless at what my cousins had done. It was definitely a new kind of repossession for him and he wasn't exactly sure what to do about it, but in the end my cousin had to restore the cabin and the lady had to pay the rest of the money she owed. No jail time. It actually turned out to be a pretty shrewd business move because word got around and he never had any trouble collecting money after that little incident. I just hope my family never reads these posts cause there's a few things about me they could share in revenge. Ya'll keep it to yourselves if you don't mind.
Sorry about the off topic rambling.
