So I went up to Denver to check out the new SRT8, look's much better in person especially the wheel's, overall I like it much better than my Overland. I spoke to an engineer that is in charge of the Challenger and made a comment about the higher price, he went into how much everything was like tooling for the SRT steering wheel costing 2 million to develop, the 6 piston brakes, and transmission with paddles. I said something about not being able to rev match and he said you could do left foot braking and still give it gas so that is good. One other thing he said on price was that the competition is so much higher in price and they are trying to attract buyer's that won't even look at the car if the price is too low, nice. So I did like it better than I thought but no way am I going to pay that much for a Jeep after the quality issues I have had with my Overland, rattles constantly and feel's like a V6 not a "Hemi". I hope the new people they attract for the higher price are patient and don't expect service like Mercedes or BMW when they have issues.

Marlin,

I am extremely picky as well. I have to say my early build limited was almost perfect the day I picked it up. I can not say so much for my late build 2011 overland. Moldings do not line up, the lift gate is off center, and the carpet wasn't tucked beside the rear seats. I would not mind the higher price if the quality matched the price as well as a better dealer experience. I totally understand trying to attract a new type of buyer, but there is no guarantee the quality will be better than the regular WKII's. If it isn't increased the new type of buyers the price will bring will cringe and be turned off.

Thanks mate.

Laredo's are awesome value here in Australia ($45k), but as usual, the premium models attract outrageous price increases ($75 for Overland!).

Whilst I've been mostly happy with my WK1 Limited ($82k new!), it must be remembered that it was built in Europe, not the US, and like all export Jeeps of the period, subject to better fit and finish expectations.

With Jeep reverting to US assembly, I'll admit I have reservations.
YES, upon inspection the interior materials quality is an improvement over previous, but the actual fit of the parts seems quite variable.

Whilst I could forgive a few imperfections here and there if we Aussie's paid US prices, we don't, and for $100g or thereabouts I would want my JEEP SRT to be damned near perfect.

haha, well, maybe not that bad, but I can honestly say I've never gone to a BBQ where someone has brought a 6-pack of it, and it is never seen for sale in liquor stores, it's just not popular.

They even re-bottle and brand it as Crown Lager here, and it still doesn't sell. I guess because it tastes like cat's piss :p lol

But. But
...their motto says Australian for Beer!
Lmao!!!
US Marketing doing what it does best......misleading customers.
Sort of like Jeep's new slogan...."fastest Jeep ever" ;)

I think the ingredients of that beer actually say Cat Piss right on the bottle!

Green bottle beer comes out skunk'd from the bottle. Bud Heavy and Light has the same exact taste and both are better than any green bottle beer.
I've done numerous blind taste tests and no one can EVER tell the difference.

Ooops. Sorry to OP...:eek:t::threadhijack:

These are built on the same line the Overlands, Laredos etc so expect the same build quality as an Overland no better no worse or lets hope no worse or there will be some seriously pissed off owners out there.

As for dealer service anyone coming from a Porsche, MB or BMW will be less then thrilled, after 10 years I found 1 Chryco dealer around here who can actually diagnose and actually fix something.

who pissed you off bro? LOL negative nancy today......
LOL Scott not negative buddy im a realist.

After dealing with Jeep for so many years I know what to expect from them service wise or Chryco for that matter.

Not being negative by speaking the truth the SRT8's they make are on the same line as every other one from the base model up and service wise these 5 star dealerships  leave alot to be desired.

Imagine bringing in that gorgeous SRT8 and having them treat it like a well a Jeep? Oh hells no. For that money I want it away from ANY other vehicle no scratches. You just wont get that kind of service at most dealerships, hell you know ive tried to find it ha!

Ive never had a problem with service....I dont know what you guys expect. I have a Lexus also and the jeep service is just as good and you dont have to pay for the perks...ie. fancy show rooms, lattes, etc etc.

While I've been a huge proponent of both the vehicle and service provided thus far as an early adopter of the WK2 Overland, the price for that vehicle was $42k. Pretty much a fanboy on this one.

Chryco made its own bed by raising the bar so high on the WK2 SRT8. It doesn't help that this is a performance SUV gas guzzler in what looks to be a really crappy economy.

It is completely fair for any customer to expect service, reliability, performance, features, and fit & finish that is consistent with a $60K automobile. Clearly, the jury is still out on this given Jeep's history and comparable SRT8's, old and new. Just because it's a limited production vehicle doesn't mean the customer will be any less demanding.

Jeep has created great expectations. I'm rooting for them to live up it, and like many here will lust after this vehicle even if it doesn't end up in my garage.
