Re: selling

I am considering selling mine because i'm going through a separation and freeing up the money (payment + equity) would make things easier. Only reason I haven't pushed forward is because I really really do not want to sell it. It is my dream vehicle and I love it.

Re: selling

Only reason I'll sell mine is if/when the next generation SRT drops and only if it has the 6.2L SC. There's nothing else under $100k I want. It has everything I want and need. I do feel that SRT gave us an underpowered vehicle however. The 6.4L should have had 500HP and the torque to match, that's another discussion though.

With modding you limit your buyers as we all know. The more you personalize it the more you limit your buyers. Well done or not. You can buy a brand new Viper for $100k, dump $100k into to, never even drive it and put it for sale when the build is done. You will be lucky if you get $130k for it.

That's they good thing about wraps and tinting film. You can revert back to stock. When I finally sell I will take off the GTHaus and Bwoody. Catch Can I'll leave on. The Eibachs I'll leave on because they are so close to stock I can't see them affecting anything.

In general though, I've also wondered why so many people have been selling. Part of it can be image. There are a lot of people who must have a popular foreign brand. It's a right of passage for them. The Jeep is still a Jeep and it's hard for them to shake it. People are followers and they want to have whatever other people want to have at the time. They'll deny they are followers until they are blue in the face, but I'd bet anything that if SRT Jeeps because the next Trucker Hat or Wayfarers of the auto world those sheep would be snapping them up like hotcakes. It'll never happen though. That's my take on things. The SRT appeals to a special group of people. Most people I talk to don't even know what the SRT is. "Is that a special package or did you do that yourself".

Re: selling

I never bought mine to sell it honestly, so this thing is staying with me forever until death do us part. Will I ever buy a "normal" Jeep GC, limited, summit whatever, never in my life. I got a SRT because I always wanted one, it's a freaking legend in my book. The only Jeep I still feel for is a black on black Jeep Wrangler with gigantic tires. Will I jump on the next gen SRT Jeep, who knows, depends what's on the market around that time, I might, I might not.

Re: selling

for the record....I don't want to sell mine AT ALL! But if I need to I will. Putting $60000+ into my bank account right now sure would calm some worries....

Re: selling

I think a lot of people (myself included) are the type of people who will usually trade in or sell every year or so. I loved my SRT but wanted to get rid of it before I went over 20k because of what that does to the value. I was able to drive it for over a year and still trade it in while it was the current model year, which also helps value. I loved it and will definately by the SC version if they make it. If you make sure you buy right and sell at the right time you can always stay in a new vehicle and it doesnt cost you any more than keeping for a longer time. I don't look at the cost of a car when purchasing as much as I try to figure out what my cost of ownership will be for the time I have it. At least that's how I justify it to myself and my wife when I'm getting a new car every year.

Re: selling

the reality is, but will never be said by these folks, are that an overwhelming majority of the folks selling are selling because they realized 1 or both of these two things:

1. They don't need a $65,000 SUV.
2. They can't afford a $65,000 SUV along with the rest of their budget.

...and should never have bought it.

Or they have the money and desire to upgrade to a more expensive SUV

Re: selling

I just wanna say, that I have started to notice a trend of SRT's for sale. While people have their reasons as to why buy a performance SUV and then sell. Like it's been said, some may have bought one and later realize that they cant afford it. The guy who bought his 14 srt and sold it months later for a more expensive SUV (albeit, a over weight turd known as a RR/RS) I call BS on that. hands down for the money the SRT is a much better ride. I know I know, I don't own an SRT and while I cant afford one let alone the gas for one, have my v6 jeep ive been modding the crap out of. I would love a V8, just cant afford it on 2800 a month before taxes and bills. You guys are lucky to have what you have. I also know many people out there love their SRT's like Scott for example. He don't wanna sell but there is a legit need for it. (hope it all works out Scott)

I guess what im trying to say is, I would buy an SRT if I can afford one. Not bashing anyone on the decision to sell, that's not my place. I don't know your guy's situations and its not my business. Its an amazing machine.

No, a majority are not selling to upgrade to more expensive.
