The guy who bought his 14 srt and sold it months later for a more expensive SUV (albeit, a over weight turd known as a RR/RS) I call BS on that. hands down for the money the SRT is a much better ride. I know I know, I don't own an SRT and while I cant afford one let alone the gas for one, have my v6 jeep ive been modding the crap out of. I would love a V8, just cant afford it on 2800 a month before taxes and bills. You guys are lucky to have what you have. I also know many people out there love their SRT's like Scott for example. He don't wanna sell but there is a legit need for it. (hope it all works out Scott)

I guess what im trying to say is, I would buy an SRT if I can afford one. Not bashing anyone on the decision to sell, that's not my place. I don't know your guy's situations and its not my business. Its an amazing machine.
You can call BS on whatever you want - this board and the generalizations that get thrown around regarding weight and performance are hysterical. Before you make statements at least get your facts straight...here are a couple for you:

RRS curb weight = 5093lbs. HP = 510 from a blown 5.0 V8
SRT8 curb weight = 5150lbs. HP = 470 from a NA 6.4

How seriously uniformed can you be?

I was on the fence about buying the 14 and always wanted the next gen. Waiting, waiting...then it comes out - I thought well, lets give it a try, this vehicle was for my wife to drive. They killed the performance, the new gen is nothing like the old...its just a fat pig with a big motor than can't go off-road or perform on road with a plastic interior. Albeit 10k more for my RRS - fair trade in my mind for what you get.

"Hands down the SRT8 is a much better ride" Oh yeah, have you driven them daily and side by side in all types of weather? Which one you going to reach for in 2 feet of snow? Are you going to raise your SRT8 4 inches from the cockpit to get through? Have you compared the fit and finish of the SRT cockpit with the RRS? Hands down the SRT loses, almost every time, that is a fact. The SRT sounds anemic next to a RRS...plus the gas mileage is 4-5 mpg better.

With the RRS R-S...comparison will not even be close. Yes more money but when you are spending 70+ on SUV's what is a quibble about another 10-15? Once you sink $80k into an SUV you are in the premium market...you are free to move about at will, why settle with a vehicle that is sub par for that kind of money. I think everyone is realizing that, dealing with shitty American service dealers, and yahoo sales people.

Dodge Viper $100k - joke. It aint selling because for $100k your options for cars are endless...$70-$80k SUV's the same. You are going to stroll into a Dodge dealership and stroke a $100k check for a Viper? No chance.

Hellcat - its what the SRT's should have been 5 years ago and now Chrysler is playing catch up.

SRT8 will disappear - and soon. This brand was born on being a performance bargain - do some research and look at the history. It has evolved into a brand that did not keep up performance wise and kept raising prices...boom you just lost your entire customer base.

Re: selling

^ I can agree with you that SRT is losing sight of the performance bargain. The saying goes "dance with the one who brung you". I can say for damn sure that the current SRT is still a relative bargain. I roll race and I do some fun 0-60 races (in Mexico) and I can say I've dusted my share (or been dead even with) M3s DCT, Audi RS5, Cayenne Turbo (not S) and other current generation performance vehicles. Next gen they better step it up that's for damn sure. A loaded Viper GTS is worth every damn bit of $120k. If you disagree that's because you probably haven't sat in or driven a Gen V. Do I think the GTS loaded is worth $150k? No. The reason they aren't selling is because of bench racers and image people. The cross shoppers are image guys. They are magazine stat racers. They don't care about the reality of the Viper being one of the fastest production cars in the world around a real race track. They care about bragging to their buddies about what the general population thinks. Unless SRT comes up with some way to put that torque to the ground and come up with some sub 3 second 0-60s and 10 second 1/4 magazine times to appease the masses, it won't be around for long.

Also, when comparing prices don't compare MSRP, only compare what you will likely pay. Most people I know paid MSRP or near it for their RR. Most Jeep guys got $5k off which widens the gap. This logic follows with most domestics vs foreign as the domestics typically discount more.

No matter how much money I make I'll never buy a RR. I despise them and the image they carry, and I can be one hell of a snob. The RR always seems to appeal to the poseur and trust fund crowd, more than to the business crowd...at least around here and in Dallas it's that way. I refuse to be associated it with. The Porsche guys are down to earth compared to the RR, but that's just my opinion.

Re: selling

Amen to that A-kon. The new get vipers are incredible. They are every bit worth 120k. People are paying 120k for Range Rover LOL which is a straight rip off. For 65k the 2014 SRT Jeep is the best performance SUV on the road. 100 grand plus for RNge Rover fully loaded and for Porsche Turbo S. The jeep performs just fine against those- does it beat it maybe not. But is the other 2 worth 30k more than the performance of the SRT? HELL NO. You are out of your damn minds spending 110 k on an SUV.

Really guy. You gonna sit there and call me uninformed? Im the last person who's gonna be uninformed when I go spouting info bud. Your the only one getting bent out of shape on an OPINION. Shows how small minded you are. Awww he threw numbers around. Congrates, you can read a brochure, im proud of you! Last time I checked your RR/RS only goes 0 to 60 in 4.6 while ive been seeing srts doing it deep into low 4's and high 3's. Thats low 4's stock guy. I'll take an srt over your rr any day.

The viper aint selling because options? Really guy. The viper aint selling because srt has the pcm locked to prevent tuning, since most viped owners want to tune them or bost them.

You need to learn self control guy. I gave MY OPINION, and got a lecture from you on not having my facts straight. You can keep pushing your rr/rs BS all you want but let me inform the uninformed. This is a jeep forum and if you want to push your crap then take it to the off topic section.

Don't bring a pen knife to a gun fight...you are driving a 6 cylinder Jeep from the 1900's and can intelligently comment on the nuances of 6 figure vehicles?

Bozo.

Ah finally - good points here. Agreed. Not sure about the RR snobbiness..been driving them for 20 years...must be a location thing.

Correct - only track rats will realize the efficacy of a 6 figure vehicle with no status attached...like the Z-28, a true track weapon that will give the GT3 all it can handle for half the cost - you get the viper back there, then you have something. Otherwise out of reach for the common man that wants to elevate from his Camaro or Shelby.

Porsche guys are down to earth...please, they won't let any other marques in their DE events - most Porsche people are tools...moccasins, driving gloves, gold chains. Its the older 911 crowd that are down to earth.

Okay Okay - I take back the hitch insert remark....wtf is that anyway???? Can we talk about the black vinyl wrapped roof then? I mean, science says (like most school buses, wrap your roof in white something...I mean there is the sun yo...? Can your A/C keep up with your mod frenzy?

Ma...more meatloaf!

Bozo.
So your gonna automatically assume that because I am driving a v6 that I dont know what im talking about? And im the bozo? My previous truck was gmc witha 350. Your assuming that because I drive a 17k jeep that I never been around or test driven a 65k jeep. Is that it? Go back and reread my original post. No where was I comparing the v6 to an srt, bozo. What do you think I do for a living? I make 2800 a month. Can I afford the srt. No. Doesn't mean im ignorant to what it is. I am a car guy. Alway been one since I was 13. Ive done a lot of custom work in my short 24 year life, but being ignorant aint one of them.
