Just got back from my latest trip to the dealer. It was my latest replacement of the dash carbon fiber applique and exchange of my oil dipstick for the correct one.
While there I asked my service guy for the latest software updates (I'm still in warrantee). He said the next update was for the shifter (I have a 2014) and would take 4-5 hours. 4-5 hours?!?! Doesn't that seem excessively long? I am no tech geek, but couldn't you load an operating system and popular programs on the hard drive of a desk top - probably twice - in that time?
Does that sound right? Anybody have this update done yet?
The proper operation design for the electronic shifter took a little getting used to at first, but I am fine with it now, so I see no need for me (i.e. I don't want to wait 4-5 hours).
However, after reading the thread about the celebrity death, I saw that someone said it was repeatedly demonstrated that the shifter was properly put into park, and then popped out into neutral. I have never experienced this, so I believe this is an anomolous malfunction and not really a design issue, hence the update and not a recall.
Have to confirmed to see if the recall works on your jeep, as of today the IPC flash is not out yet for SRT jeeps for the recall, I would be interested to know how the dealer performed the S27 recall on a SRT at this time?
All other 2014-2015 WK2 S27's are out 3.6,5.7,3.0 but the 6.4 software is still not out.
I recommend having the dealer conduct an update. If you’re in need of a rental during that time, please DM me for further assistance. – Kevin T, Social Connect Team
My '14 SRT is in again for its bi-weekly barrage of nonsense repairs, and this week the shifter reflash is on the agenda, among miscellaneous suspension noise, trim problems, and other crap it's been in four or five times for already in the last two years of ownership. You can imagine, then, how unsurprised I was when I got a call and was told some computer needs replacing because it was bricked during the shifter update, and I "might not get my car back for a couple of weeks now, but just hang onto that (base model) Renegade rental."
Ahh, FCA... First you promise to reimburse me for two months of my car payments since I've been without the vehicle for... (Counting)... Ten weeks this time, only to rescind the offer, then you won't approve the repair of common 2014 WK2 bugs... I'm on the cusp of writing off Jeep for good this time, but only after having been raised in a Jeep family and having purchased over 13 new Jeep products in the last six years. Woops. Why don't you go sell off to China so everyone else wakes up and writes you off too?
Well, you'd all excuse me- it's back to my POS base model Renegade now that gives me back problems, and hardly makes up for the $1000/mo car payment I have.
I was told over the phone when i scheduled mine that if I had a 7:30 appointment I would be out by 11. Show up to the dealership and the lady (pretty sure the same lady I spoke to over phone) tells me it won't be ready till end of lunch. "End of lunch? When is that?" "4 or 5 oclock." Hm. Well, she never offered me a rental, so i just hung out in the lobby. Guy walks in around 11 and calls for me. Didn't even think I had been waiting. Apparently she thought I left, but while walking the lot and asking the service tech how the update was coming it was much to his surprise I was waiting on it. "Oh, they didn't tell me you were waiting to pick it up, I would have started it earlier" What good is a 7:30 appointment then if they just push it off to the side till whenever they want to get to it because they just assume-don't even ask- if you would be waiting on your car or not. Okay, done ranting
I had mine updated on a Saturday morning. Total update took 2hrs. The technician said it was the quickest one they had done so far. The first 3 modules updated in about 20min. The last module is the cluster which took over an hour to flash.
I had the shifter recall done on my 2015, I dropped the car off at 7:30am. I had that scheduled to be done and the rear brake shield cover to be replaced from the noise it was making contact with on the rotor/wheel. They said the car would be ready by 5:00pm but I didnt get it till after closing hours, around 8:00pm. I think they had trouble with the noise fix, that or they almost screwed the car up flashing the modules. First thing I asked the service adviser when I arrived was if the update was available for SRT's, he assured me it was.
I havent actually tested yet to see if the software change works for the recall, I guess I should get around to doing that, been too busy leaving the car in drive and having fun! The punch in the gut from the acceleration is addicting.
Had mine done, 2015 SRT and they had the software, if you are in any gear besides park and open the door, the moment you take your foot off the brake it goes into park.
Had my 2014 in last week for routine service. Dealer called and told me they were gonna perform the shifter recall software update. After keeping my Jeep for 5 hours they then called and told me the update had not been released for the 2014 SRT.
They did something to mine.. Cause they attempted the update then called me and said "it's not for the SRT" but if am in drive and try to cut the engine off its forces it into park.. Did this always happen?
Haven't gotten the notice that the update is ready but I had it done on my '14 2 weeks ago. Took half a day for them to do the shifter recall update plus PCM and TCM updates. Heres what needs to happen in order for it to be forced into park:
I put it in drive, rolled forward and stopped, opened the door and let my foot off the brake and it through it into Park. Tried the same thing with other doors and it doesnt do it. Also opened the door while in drive and it didnt do it. So it will only do this when you come to a stop and dont shift to park then open the door. I always make sure its in P so it hasnt done it on its own since getting the update
I havent tried that but I assume thats normal. It will only force it into P when you open the door after coming to a stop
social connect team, awesome, all volunteers non-salary and certainly neutral voice(s) ha, ha, I couldn't have done up rig without the help of the team. my thanks
Got the shifter recall done on my 14 and now my Diablo tells me that I have to downgrade and it doesn't support my vehicle. Updated the Diablo and tried again, still got the same message. Can anyone help me with this?
