Snow Beast!

I have been very reluctant to drive the SRT in any snow but with all the foul weather we've been experiencing lately and the fact that I chose the jeep over the other performance cars because of the all wheel drive I decided to take it out and give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised when I drove it the other week after we had some significant snow and discovered that it handled great. I drove it yesterday in a blinding snow storm with no less than 6 inches of snow and it navigathed like a champ with the snow setting engaged. Mind you, I was still very cautious but was impressed how well it behaved with the reduced throttle response, transmission shifting and traction control. Very pleased indeed.

Good to know - haven't tried mine in the snow at all yet, let alone with the snow setting. Does it start you out in a higher gear or something?

Starts in 2nd and it feels like the traction nanny is at full control. Also more aggressive on cutting the throttle if it senses spin or slide.

Figured as much - basically takes the torque. Thanks.

Re: Snow Beast!

also drove all day with scorpion snow and ice, couldn't be happier with how this handles in the snow. snow setting is noticeably different than auto. that being said, could still get it to do some controlled slides but what is more impressive is how quick compared to other SUVS it takes off from a stop in snow conditions. have no reservations with how this thing handles in snow.

Re: Snow Beast!

Yes, very quick from a standing start in comparison to other SUV's. My only real concern is the clearance of the front fascia. With all the pushed snow around I would hate to damage the front because I couldn't clear a hunk of packed ice / snow.
