I remember I heard in the conference it will be faster by 1 second. Lets say 0-60 in 4.7 seconds for 2012 and for the 2014 it will be something like 3.5 or 3.7 seconds.

That was 40 - 75 a second faster, I'd be extremely surprised if it dropped below 4. But pleasantly surprised.

No way. A 3.5-3.7 sec 0-60 is faster than X5M and Cayenne Turbo S times. That's not gonna happen.

Re: So....just how fast you think this new 14' Jeep SRT really is?

IMHO it will only be .2 faster in the 1/4 mile due to the rev matching and some gear ratio changes. The nag1 is a performance tranny unlike what you see in the 5.7 and V6. So our gains will not be close to what kind of acceleration they saw. Our benefit will be there is no flat spots in the downshifts and will probably kick down enough gears to get a good acceleration from a roll as where ou nag1 would only downshift to 4th instead of 3rd. I see it improving during driving a lot but from a dig I think it will be an arguable difference. I feel that most of us on the forums that mod our rigs will find ways to overcome the benefits of the 8 speed with tuning an valvebody's and such.

Until the hellcat is released I don't think the results will be earth shattering. That being said I'd love to see it run 12s from the factory with less than 1k miles on it.

Re: So....just how fast you think this new 14' Jeep SRT really is?

My other thinking is if there is an extra shift 0-60 and that caused it to run the same time whats gonna happen in the 1/4 with an extra 2-3 shifts? I shift into 4th just before the line with my nag1 so I expect to probably see top of 5th to just shifting into 6 th with the 8 speed

But, in theory, you are in a better RPM range with better power for more of the time...

It will be interesting to see the real world results in any case.

Where the 8 speed will really shine is in the 1/4 mile and on up to 165-175 mph...where the 1st gen really died and was left in the dust by many imports etc.
The Engineer Jeff Fasselli (or something close to that) stated this that the extra gear shift to 60 equalizes the gain in the better gearing. So the 5 speed does it without a shift. The 0 - 45 will probably be quicker, and then you lose it with the shift.
The 1/4 mile times will be interesting for sure. I'm thinking 12.9 at 106 - 107 mph in normal weather.
Only time will tell.

You expect it to only gain .1 in the quarter, when they clearly stated 40-75 increased by a full second? It will be interesting for sure...

Re: So....just how fast you think this new 14' Jeep SRT really is?

That's "standing 40-75". A lot of this is in the gear change, and resulting rpm from a shift down several gears versus the old 5 speed which had to perform 2 gear changes.

I still think more than 0.1, but nowhere near a full second.
