Soft Mode for Suspension?

I almost hate to ask given the very purpose of the SRT!

I only have 7KM on my new SRT and have taken the family on a quick trip around the block. Unfortunately the road surface around us is in poor condition and the firm suspension made for plenty of comments of how "bumpy" the Jeep is. So far they are blaming my poor driving

I know I can firm up the suspension from Auto --> Sports --> Track but can you "Soften" the ride in Auto?

Thanks
Nathan

Re: Soft Mode for Suspension?

Sorry man Auto is as soft as it gets. I used to have a Summit with the air suspension....now that thing rode like a cloud.

Re: Soft Mode for Suspension?

Swap your run flats for non run flats 180 degree change in softness

Yup, it's the run flats. It's not for everyone. You may also want to check your tire pressure too and maybe lower it a bit to help mitigate some of the stiffness inherent with run flats. There are some good tire threads already started to this effect for possible tire selections.

Agreed. I have the 3 season run flats and the wife thought for a $70k ride I was a fool given the bumps... Now that it is winter and I have non run flat snow tires... It is a totally different... Soft and easy... Quiet and relaxing.... But I can't take a right turn at 40 or the on ramps at 80 either... Chose your battle

Re: Soft Mode for Suspension?

Thanks - good thoughts on the Tires and from what I've read I'll need to replace them shortly anyway!

Re: Soft Mode for Suspension?

I concur with the guys here. With my first SRT I switched from run flats to air in different tires within the first 20 miles. Air is a softer ride but it's still stuff, just not as stiff as run flats.

Re: Soft Mode for Suspension?

OK - got rid of the Run Flats and (Chrome Rims as I can not stand the brake dust on them either). I now have:
- Replica Spider Monkeys
- Hankook Ventus 295/45R20

Ride is much better and the new Matt Black Rims should not show the brake dust!

Re: Soft Mode for Suspension?

jmone, whats the load rating on the Hankooks? 've had those tyres in the past on 20's and 22's I thought they were pretty good (just don't go offraoding with them lol).

Also, did you sell your Goliaths?

Re brake dust, get your self some ceramic pads (or semi ceramic). I have Hawk HP Ceramics on mine and almost no dust now.

Re: Soft Mode for Suspension?

Sorry been away - according to Google they are - Load Index, 114 (what ever that means).

I still have the Goliaths (but one has been guttered by my in the first week ) so I guess I'll keep them as a set of spares ....

Given the matt black of the new rims I think the issue of brake dust is behind me.
