Re: SRT Barracuda to replace Dodge Challenger SRT8 in 2014?

What they should do is make the Barracuda but only have an SRT model only. Maybe with a 8.4L V10 and keep the Challenger

I heard this news a few months ago. I like it. I think Chryco will do better with vehicles labeled just SRT as they will be more exclusive.

The Challenger isn't going anywhere.

If they do that the Wife will want to kill me. I have already had an RT Challenger, then I upgraded to the SRT8 Challenger, and now the SRT8 Jeep. If they did this I would want one!!!

iirc of the rumors correctly on the Challenger, like the Dodge Durango and the Dodge Caravan will be gone in the next few years. Each brand will have farily 'unique' platforms or at least one that is not just 'badge engineered' to be different. Can't wait for an SRT Barracuda Convertible...just make it AWD!!

Re: SRT Barracuda to replace Dodge Challenger SRT8 in 2014?

Chrysler is going to replace the Dodge Challenger with the 2015 SRT Barracuda. There have been rumors about this for months, but Car and Driver says Chrysler has finally figured out its plan. According to the magazine, Dodge would like to export the Challenger, but its size limits overseas sales potential. Since fuel economy is a top priority — especially since there are four-cylinder versions coming of both Mustang and Camaro —
Chrysler needed to slim down Challenger. Meanwhile, Fiat has been looking for a rear-drive platform for use by Lancia, Alfa Romeo, and possibly Maserati. These factors motivated Chrysler to develop a new platform, and the Barracuda will be its first result, according to Car and Driver.

It says the 'Cuda will be about the same size as the current Mustang, with a wheelbase more than six inches shorter than the Challenger's. Its rear track and overall width are expected to shrink by a bit more than two inches, while weight will drop by between 250 and 300 pounds. The front suspension may move from control arms to a strut setup; the rear suspension will remain multi-link, with new geometry.

Re: SRT Barracuda to replace Dodge Challenger SRT8 in 2014?

Seems like a lot of pieces missing in the puzzle. I thought Challenger sales were pretty decent. How do they ace a great selling 4 door muscle car and totally replace it with the two door Cuda? I mean they have the 300, but it leaves a lot to be desired IMO. Surely there will be no 4 door Cuda
However, I wouldnt put anything past Chryco at this point....they built a great little car and just had to bring back the old "Dart" name...sheesh.

The Challenger only has 2 doors, Charger is the 4 door. However, sales are decent...

AWD Barracuda will come in as soon as the AWD Mustang hit the show rooms
