Re: SRT better buy than Macan or SQ5?

Sorry, you're right. I grabbed data from edmunds.com in the specs page, and I accidentally grabbed the gross weight instead of the correct curb weight of 5150lbs for the Cherokee and the SQ5 doesn't even list a gross weight, but it's curb weight is 4420lbs.

So the Grand Cherokee SRT is 730lbs (16%) heavier than the existing SQ5. The new SQ5 will be ~220lbs lighter, so the difference will increase to 950lbs (23%). That's significant, but again, the Cherokee is a larger vehicle.

I did a little digging and found my comparisons between the Grand Cherokee SRT vs Q7 are inaccurate. The Q7 is actually significantly larger but again, weighs far less.

2015 Cherokee SRT
15'11" long
6'5" wide
5'9" tall
8.3" ground clearance
curb weight: 5150lbs
engine: 6.2L V8 naturally aspirated

2016 Audi Q7 3.0L TDI
16'8" long
6'6" wide
5'8" tall
8.1" ground clearance
curb weight: 4343lbs
engine: 3.0L V6 turbo charged

2017 Audi SQ5
15'3" long
6'3" wide
5'5" tall
curb weight: ~4200lbs
engine: 3.0L V6 turbo charged

Any SUV that can do 0-60 in close to 5 seconds is plenty enough power. But the specs of this Jeep are all about brute force and little finesse. It's an overpriced heavy and powerful gas guzzler that will depreciate in record time.

So go buy your Audi and leave us alone. Those of us that have actually owned an SRT know there is no comparison between them and an SQ5 or Q7. The SRT is a brute, but also offers amazing handling for what it is. Also your assumption that people are actually paying $75k for these is off as is your mpg estimates.

Re: SRT better buy than Macan or SQ5?

Yep...i got over 22 mpgs highway in 6 trips to florida. And its a 6.4 hemi...not 6.2 so who knows what else edmunds has wrong. And i have seen many 2014s in the low 4s after break in. And..i have actually owned an audi.. unlike you and had several problems with it. It was the a7 and in the short time we owned it...the key fib was replaced, dead battery and bad tstat. And it was driven by my wife. Plus add in the outrageous service costs...no thanks.
Give me the srt anyday...but styling is subjective and personal. I think the srt has a world class interior and has been awarded so by Wards and others. But styling is subjective like I said. The audi a7 was nice...but not srt jeep nice imho. Even my wife said the same of her $80k sedan. Anyway....lol

Hey Marnes isn't that a supercharged 3.0 liter and there 3.0 turbo diesel is a pig. And I don't believe anything VW says. And I don't need your opinion especially when you have no idea what your talking about

The SRT is dropping weight for 2016, aluminum suspension. Have not seen the numbers yet but they are going down, should be out soon.
