SRT-daily driver/ towing capacity?

Assuming that someone can give me a quick answer on this.. I'm planning to get a diesel when available but I must admit that the SRT8 is intriguing. It would be my daily driver, including WI winters, and I'd like to get a camper in the next few years, as my son gets a little older. So how does this vehicle "work" as a daily driver? How about in the winter? What is the rated towing capacity (and real world performance, I suppose)? Thanks in advance for the answers..

Re: SRT-daily driver/ towing capacity?

Can't speak to winter driving but with the right tires and snow mode I can't imagine it to be a problem. As a daily driver it's fine, as long as you can deal with 14 MPH average (on good days) on premium fuel.

Tow rating is 5000lbs but the same chassis is rated at 7200 lbs on the non SRT versions so it's probably a spring, tire issue. I run a 5000 lb enclosed trailer with a weight distributing hitch and it's excellent on the road.

Great daily driver. I live in illinois and had no concerns during the winter months. You have to remember that the tires are very wide and will not handle quite as well as the narrower ones on the other jeep models. Towing max is 5000 lbs. if I remember correctly. Limitation is likely suspension and transmission related, not the engine.

Re: SRT-daily driver/ towing capacity?

cool, thanks. I still think the diesel is going to make the most sense, but the SRT would be fun..
