SRT Demo

I have located a new 2014 Jeep SRT at a dealership that has just under 900 miles on it. When I inquired about it, the salesman told me the owner of the dealership had driven it for awhile and now it is sitting in the showroom. The price is significantly reduced. Is this something I need to take a closer look at or pass on?

Re: SRT Demo

Why pass on it? It has a warranty until 36,900 miles. just look it over for scratches/dents.

I'd question what "significantly reduced" really means. You should be able to buy most anywhere around invoice, so if it is at that or higher then it is not "significantly reduced" and I'd call them on it. Also, note, the vehicle has not been registered or titled, so you cannot play the "it's a used car" game.

Thanks for the advice. "Significantly reduced" means from msrp of about 70K down to 62K.

62 sounds fair. I paid 64 for mine brand new. If you can get them to go 61 on it, do the deal.

Do the deal at $62. That's roughly $2k under invoice. Don't be a hardass and try to always win a negotiation by haggling over $1000 more off an already great price. $1000 on a $60k+ vehicle should not be a deal breaker.

Re: SRT Demo

Well my 2012 had 5700 miles on it and it also was the owners car and they took off 10,375 off MSRP of 65,375 and it has all options including rear dvd. You might get a few more thousand off it but then they probably low ball your trade in so if your happy with the price jump on it. Make the deal on the trade in 1st then work on the 14. MY INVOICE WAS 61,803 AND THE HOLD BACK WAS 1934.

Thanks again for the advice. The price is not so much of what I am concerned with although of course it does play into the decision to buy. My concern lies in the fact that it is a demo. I work with peoole that used to work at dealerships and drive them. I would hear of the abuse they would put on their demos. I am wondering if the extra $2K for a brand new one would be worth the peace of mind. The next problem is that I live in FL and the demo is in NC. Just stopping by to look would kind of be difficult.

Where at in nc if you don't mind me asking? If it's close I could check it out for you.

Gerry Wood Auto Group in Salisbury, NC. Very much appreciated if you're close enough to do that.

There are some positives for it be a demo. If the owner has driven it for 900 miles then all the small problems that might have occurred would have been fixed already.

True. I never thought of that either. There is a member that might be able to check it out for me. If it checks out, I may just pull the trigger.
