Re: SRT Hellcat Official Numbers!

The chally's nice and all, i believe the charger will get the same treatment. What im really looking forward to is this in the JEEP, to reclaim the fastest SUV like it did in 06.

Usain Bolt weighing 200lbs will still be quicker than Usain Bolt weighing 300 lbs. Just saying. HP numbers mean shit if the platform sucks. Yes, I am very pessimistic....sorry.

Re: SRT Hellcat Official Numbers!

Depends on what you're looking for! You want to turn? Get a Miata! You want to drag race or just burn rubber this thing will do the trick! This is a MUSCLE car, not a Formula 1 car - doesn't pretend to be anything different. No matter how you look at it though, 700 HP is awesome.

That's why there are 5 million different cars out there, can't please everyone with a single car!

Then again, I've loved the Challenger from the moment I saw the concept cars many many years ago. More HP isn't a bad thing! Less weight would be good too, of course.

Having said that, you'll notice I do not have one in my garage. Simply not practical for me, and I don't have that kind of money to burn.

Re: SRT Hellcat Official Numbers!

Nice numbers for the wow factor, but in reality this is akin to the guy who has a 1000HP Supra, and he's no faster than the guy with the 650HP Supra. In its stock form, this car is going nowhere in 1st and second gear without ridiculous torque management (which slows it down) or aftermarket drag radials.

Ask me how I know? I literally never use 1st gear in my Shelby, I can take off completely normal in 2nd. And if getting on it, 1st is nothing but spinning, smoke, and a sideways car. Even if I am in 2nd gear at 50mph and try and punch it, you run the chance of losing the rear at 60mph+ which will make your ass pucker. I'm willing to bet most of the people here and who will buy this car have never driven anything like the power in these cars. It demands 100% respect. Big ego's will get checked at the door quickly. I'll tell you, punching it from 60 mph in 3rd gear and running it up to 115mph makes your adrenaline and fear factor skyrocket. Things start happening fast and the power isn't tailing off, it's still building under that boost and you are literally being pinned back while still focusing on controlling the wheel and throttle.

And about that WOW factor....the second WOW factor will be coming when you see the price, SIGNED & OUT THE DOOR, for one of these

Re: SRT Hellcat Official Numbers!

I'd rather have the power and not be able to put it down (can work on that) than not have the power! Geez guys, come on!

I admit 450 HP in my Eclipse with AWD has me spoiled. Punch it as hard as you want and it just goes. Wet or dry doesn't matter. But I'm guessing AWD is out of the question for the Hellcat. :-)

I still think 700 HP would be AWESOME fun. Practical? No! Fun? Hell yea! Especially if someone else is paying for the car and the insurance. ;-)

Sounds like you guys should just use the black FOB.

I think it would be nice, if the SRT becomes the SRT/Hellcat, and then the current SRT engine becomes available in a Summit with a real OR-II package.
I'd trade up for that... and I'd suspect it to take a bigger bite out of Land Rovers.

Milous confirmed in the other thread that the Hellcat is good for mid-to-high 10s with the 8-speed... Sounds like torque management helps out here.
